Flavor is good, they use a lot of garlic. Amount was enough but not for big appetites. Price is in average of Panda Express.Food was barely warm , and when is raining you just want your food hot. Service was good, they do not ask for tip, that is voluntary. Dining room is ok, chairs are for fast people, do not try to stay more than 15 min or pay your rent. I’ll be back but I’ll ask the waitress to please tell people staff be sure my delicious food is hot and healthy. I just realized, that must be keeping over 135 f degrees to be healthy, right?Anyway I’ll be back because I love garlic as a seasoning. Thank you

This place deserves a million stars. The lady that picked up the phone was soooooo nice. I let her know that I’ve never eaten there & I would like to know if this place is good or not. She said yes of course so I asked “is the food so good it will put me sleep?”. she said “hold on let me ask the chef” “the chef said “yes the food will be so good you will fall asleep.” I’m sold at this point lol. I get there to pick up the food the little lady was so welcoming and Jesus Christ they not playing around over there. The food was so good! & guess what happen after i ate ?????

This place has some of the best food I have ever tried! Got a plate with chicken and filet mignon and it was so juicy and tender! The veggies were very good! the rice was not salty just right and perfect in my opinion, and the green sauce that they have was hands down one of the best sauces I have ever tried no lie! Can’t recommend this place enough! Only thing that sucked was the parking since the plaza gets packed on the weekends but it was definitely worth it! 10/10

Recommend for sure. Food was tasty and the ginger sauce and garlic butter only added to the already delicious meal. Veggies cooked and seasoned well.

Place is nothing like what it used to be. Completely different menu, taste, and quality is sub par.Chubby Yaki and Chubby Rice are two completely different restaurants.

Food was fantastic. As good as a fancy sit-down Japanese steakhouse.

There are some people that say that prices are too high but it is well compensated with the amount of food they gave you. They may have changed the food menu but the food is still delicious ? and it is worth to have it a try. They gave you enough food for lunch to feed two people!!!

Wow .. so disappointed.. chubby rice used to have some of the best flavorful fresh Chinese food in the neighborhood what the hell made them change to a now overpriced hibachi restaurant ?? Who will ever know but it was a very poor business move. The first time I found out about this I walked out since that day I specifically wanted their Chinese food which no longer exists on their menu just steak, chicken, shrimp, veggies and fried rice with the plates ranging from $20-35 which was a HUGE price jump from before being $10-$15 for a nice portion of food. I decided to give it a try and honestly I was disappointed i spent $30 for the ribeye plate I was given very lil meat but a TON of fried rice enough to serve 4 people and some veggies I rate the whole meal a 4 it’s edible but when comparing to other hibachi restaurants it measure up pretty low and for the price you’re better off going to Benihana’s for lunch having a way better ambience better tasting hibachi and and more than likely will be paying less than going here to chubby yaki. I won’t be back .. unless they bring Chubby Rice back

I drove by and saw that they are changing the name of the restaurant to “Chubby Yaki.” They are still closed but the signage has changedETA: I have been here since they reopened. It’s the same owners. From what the employees said, the grandmother retired and the granddaughter has taken over. Unfortunately, I won’t be back because the food is just not my style. I’m not a fan of the teppanyaki places that have popped up in the last few years simply because the dishes always have too much rice when compared to how much vegetables and protein that they give you. My plate was more than half rice, I divided it into two and it was still too much rice. These are easily 2,000+ calorie plates. It also seems like these places all charge higher prices because they give you these huge portions…of mostly rice. I was a fan of chubby rice for the healthier options and sides.

Honestly such a hidden gem in Hawthorne. Love the place, good customer service and little to no wait time for your food to be done. The food is amazing honestly, at this point I've tried more than 3/4's of the menu and the quality is great EVERY time. I strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for something new.
