BBQ was sold out (good sign) by the time I got there so I had the pleasure of trying their burgers. Wow they’re delicious! The cook overheard me ask about jalapeños and asked if I wanted some hatch peppers from NM on my burger. That was a great burger.

Good BBQ with brisket and tri-tip sandwiches as well as ribs. They have multiple types of BBQ sauces as well.
It's a bit of a gem to find right in the middle of the National Forests. But makes for a great pit stop if you are passing by or exploring the mountains.

Got to tell you that this place is no joke, We have eaten here 3 times, the 1st 2 time we had there tacos. A total of 12 tacos and they where all the same, they looked the same, they tasted the same and they where packed the same all very consistent, not to mention they where the best tacos we have had in a really long time. Tonight we had there spicy chicken sandwich and the western bacon Bigfoot burger and a side of there bake beans. They where just as impressive as the tacos where. This place, is the place to go if you want great BBQ food. This is a true mom and pop BBQ place, everything is home made, just can't say enough about what we have had and what we are going to have in the future. Nice job guys keep up the good work, you have found your niche.

As a southerner visiting this establishment I must admit I had reservations about eating bbq in California. Boy, was I proven to be wrong. What a delightful place to grab a bite to eat. If you're visiting Hayfork and your host doesn't take you to Cali Jay's BBQ, you might want to reconsider the relationship. I ordered the brisket sandwich with fries and Carolina sauce. The meal came with skin-on fries. Jeeezzz. What a delicious meal. Not a crumb left. The meal was so good we went back for seconds the following day. Quality meal at a fair price. Large portions mean you leave with a full belly. Don't pass this place up. It's a Hayfork destination for sure. Family run business that greets with the warmth of the sun. Spend your money here. You'll thank me for it.
