Authentic and delicious Mexican fare. The highlight of this charming eatery is undoubtedly their chicken mole. The dish features tender, succulent chicken smothered in a rich and flavorful mole sauce that strikes the perfect balance between spiciness and sweetness. The staff is friendly and attentive.

Delicious Oaxacan Food in Healdsburg
Agave is a family-owned Mexican restaurant and tequila bar in Healdsburg, CA, which we tried for the first time during our last visit. It is located in the Vineyard Plaza shopping center and offers an authentic taste of Oaxacan cuisine. The restaurant is known for its warm atmosphere, attentive service, and a menu that highlights traditional dishes with a contemporary twist.
One of the key attractions at Agave is their Mole Negro, which we did not try this time. We opted to start with a Guacamole Botana (Spanish for appetizer) and a couple of drinks. For the main dishes, we ordered the Carnitas plate and one of the special soups on the menu that day (I forgot the name). They were both delicious and flavorful.
The drink menu is equally impressive. They offer a wide selection of mezcals and tequilas. Their margaritas are a local favorite, so I went with one and was not disappointed. Additionally, the restaurant offers a good selection of local wines and beers that complement their food offerings.
The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Our server was so helpful, her wonderful hospitality really enhanced our experience.
Although we sat outside, I went in to take a look inside. The setting is both cozy and lively, making it a great choice for both casual lunches and festive dinners. I really liked the decoration. It is very colorful and enjoyable.
Overall, Agave offered us a pleasant dining experience with its authentic cuisine, excellent service, and inviting atmosphere. If you are in Healdsburg, it is definitely worth a visit. We know we will be back there again!

I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t have stopped here had I not needed to charge at the Electrify America my way home. One does not usually expect to find mind- blowingly good Oaxacan food in a Safeway shopping center. But there it was, and yes, it was insanely good. The mole dishes are out of this world and the cocktails go way beyond typical Margarita offerings- from the Zapoteca which featured Charanda and cucumber juice, to another that had Fernet and chocolate mole bitters. Both were very tasty. Members of our party also had the memelitas and a chile relleno- both also fabulous. Great service and a good enough atmosphere- considering that it’s right next door to a Starbucks.

This is my Midwest opinion, this is a good traditional Mexican restaurant. Margaritas are excellent. The service was excellent. Nice selection of tequilas too.

Service was great, a lil slow on getting food out. Appetizer was the best thing we ordered. Ordered molcajete for main dish and wasn't told to mix it. It was decent, but we figured out at the end that it would've been better to mix. When paying our check, we realized that we were charged double the sales tax amount. The Server attempted to fix it, however, it needed to be fixed a couple times. They didnt know how to alter the system. Watch your check, we probably would not return.

As a mescal lover, Agave was an oasis. The staff were wonderful and the mescal choice was amazing. It was the mole that was amazing. If you're a fan you should be eating here.
Love this place. Wonderful authentic flavors. The Mole’ was better than I had in Zipolite Oaxaca recently and that’s saying a lot. Felt like I was eating from a family kitchen and treated like an honored guest. Have returned several times and will return again.

I came here with my mom and the food was bland but thought we’d support a local Oaxacan place. We later learned they didn’t pay their employees for earned wages. Lawsuits won and all. Don’t support this place.
