As you pull onto the property of the Old Cyrus Alexander homestead, you are immediately transported back in time. Although there are modern amenities, the feeling of tradition is here. The property is landscaped meticulously and surrounded by beautiful grape vines as far as the eye can see. This is a family owned and operated winery and the passion they have for creating great wine is apparent on every inch of this land. They have an excellent variety of wine (something for everyone). My favorite was the Sin Zin Zinfandel. I look forward to visiting again! Cheers!
We had friends visiting from England who wanted to visit local Sonoma County wineries so we started our day at Alexander Valley Vineyards. Not only do they make fabulous wines, but their wine cave is a ‘must see.’ We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and left with a bottle of their incredible Sauvignon Blanc to boot! Will definitely come back!
We had an amazing time in the Tasting Room. Sjon was such a considerate host. The wine tour was so informative and they were so accommodating to our arrival and throughout the tasting.
Mark was very accommodating, down to earth, and extremely friendly. Wines were lovely and I’m happy I had a chance to visit the property!
So fun! Mike and Mark made our tasting experience so memorable and educational. Great conversation and learning experience about the Alexander wines.
Unimpressive experience with ok wines. Certainly value-priced. We did the free cave tour with our tasting; if one has not had a cave tour, it is a nice experience. The single person working (both tastings and cave tour) was serving many people; thus he did not have time to explain each wine. Though we had reserved the Estate Tasting, one could basically choose any wine on the list to taste.
The AVV team is absolutely fabulous! We had an awesome tour with Lucas and had the privilege of staying at the historic School House on property. It was the best way to celebrate my Mom’s birthday! Not to mention, the wines are amazing. Thank you AVV!
We like to support vineyards and wineries like AVV that are committed to sustainable or organic practices.
This is a very good Cabernet Sauvignon that is fruity with rich flavors and a bit of attitude. It was a nice surprise to notice it at our local supermarket and Total Wine stores.
Had the pleasure of tasting and staying in the guest house at Alexander Valley Vineyards. Totally enjoyed their wine, the grounds, and the historic and beautiful grounds. The leaves were all the amazing colors this time of the year. We were greeted by Drake, one of the winery dogs, enjoyed tasting room personnel, and got to spend some time with one of the owners, Harry. Everyone showed us amazing wine country hospitality! Already had one of their cabs back home with friends sharing the pics of the visit.
Very nice, Winery.

We had a fantastic experience trying wines and learning about the history of the winery! The staff were wonderful as well. Would highly recommend a visit to Alexander Valley Vineyards!!
We arrived as walk-ins. I have been visiting AVV for over 40 years! Have taken friends numerous times and several have joined the wine club. This visit yesterday was - joyless. The young lady that ran our tasting was disengaging and disingenuous. She even used a tired(!) old industry quote, “We think the wines sell themselves.”, in response to a comment I made. I worked in the industry for 20+ years as a controller. So…I’ve attended many a tasting and that quote literally says…I don’t really know why our wines are exceptional or approachable. The host also played with her noise ring while conducting our tasting. Disgusting behavior. It was just an overall bad experience and my guests were highly disappointed especially since I’d talk the place up as a must to visit. I won’t be back. I have found a new must visit spot in dry creek area.
We had an amazing visit at Alexander Valley Vineyards! The scenery was beautiful and the tour was very informative. We met with one of the owners and learned firsthand about the history of the Vineyard.
Beautiful Californian wine experience! We are in the Alexander Valley area, there is certainly a more authentic offer here than in Napa where there is a lot of marketing. The wines were all excellent, tried both the "premium" and standard lines. The petite Syrah left an impression on me, also Cyrus (their top of the range) very interesting, certainly still very young but so much potential. Curious (as a Tuscan) to see a sangiovese rosé which surprisingly wasn't bad. If you happen to be at the right time they do a free tour of the aging caves
We took part in the free tour of the wine caves. Very interesting. Afterwards a tasting with a good price/performance ratio. We recommend. We liked this wine region much better than Napa or Sonoma.
