This was our second visit the Hawkes Winery. We joined their club two years prior during a visit to their Sonoma Square tasting room, which is sadly now closed.
This time we visited their Healdsburg location we had a private barrel tasting with Sarah. Something new for us. We enjoyed the barrel tasting but even more with some side by sides of older wines. Had a blast and Sarah was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Joined their futures club!

We are actually wine members to this winery and it was awesome. This was our first visit to this location (we joined our membership at the Sonoma location but unfortunately it has been closed down 😢). Cheryl, our host was extremely great, knowledgeable, and funny. She made our night and we walked out with our June wine shipments (4 wine bottles. The PYR is the best Cab). Can’t wait to come back!

If you love really good Cabernets, this is your place! I've been a member at Hawkes ever since I first visited in ~2008. They've stayed amazingly close to their roots and you'll learn a ton about their family, vineyards, and winemaking if you want...and if not, they have some good places to relax and enjoy. Very small producer vibe, which I love. So many good wine member perks as well - like really fun events, a free photoshoot with their photographer to celebrate Mother's Day (like WHAT?! It's one of the few pics I have of me, my husband, and my baby all looking good!), and Jake writes the best letters to accompany every wine club shipment. Highly, highly recommend you visit (and join!)!

The people truly make this place worth visiting! Spent a day in Healdsburg and so glad this was our first stop on our girls trip. We left nothing in the glasses or on the board, everything was so good. Highly recommend if in the area.

The experience was great to start but was marred by the high cost of wines and tasting which was not made clear at the start.Hector was quite knowledgeable and was able to speak well to the wines.Care. Tastings are $35 each..... If you buy 2 bottles (they start at $40 for the Chardonnay through to $128 for the 2015 Cab Sav) then they will waive just 1 tasting. Bit rich really particularly for an Aussie and the exchange rate!!!!So overall was OK but disappointing end.

Nice neighborhood winery. We got 4 wines as part of our tasting and walked out with 3 bottles. The Rose, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon were delicious?. The 2 tasting and 3 bottles of wine were $170. Plenty of parking in front. They had a beautiful outdoor space but it was raining.

If Hawkes Wine didn’t already exist, it would need to be invented. It’s too good a story - and too great a wine - not to. Any visitor to Alexander Valley who doesn’t stop on for an appointment only private reserve tasting doesn’t know what they’re missing. As Audriana, our gracious wine guide, explained it (with my own embellishments, naturally) the Hawkes left the stridency & turbulence of Vietnam War era intellectual city life in Berkeley behind to live out a farming idyll in Sonoma County. They found land. They planted grapes. There were stones there. They called it the Stone Vineyard. They built a house there. Raised a family. Acquired more land to grow more grapes to sell to local wineries. Pyramid Vineyard. And Red Winery Vineyard. Cabernet Sauvignon above all else but also a bit of Merlot & Chardonnay, too.One year, when a man named George W. was President and was leading America into another long & contentious war, some of the local wineries stopped buying so many grapes from the Hawkes. So, they started making some wine themselves with the help of a well traveled & worldly son. And they put a simple red hawk on the labels & began to pour it to the public. And so, the legend of Hawkes Wine was born.Today, when news of war is again dominating news feeds, there is an idyll of kindness just outside Healdsburg on the road to Knights Valley. Pull in next to the chickens. Admire the open vineyard views. Check in for your reserve tasting. Prepare for some special wines that speak of soil, time, temperature, & tenacity. Wines with back stories rather than bold headlines (although they do attract the attention of wine critics). It’s simpler than that for a 14-time Yelp Elite like me. I enjoy great wine, but I like meeting people even more & sharing stories & having a fun time.Sure. It helps when I can leave with a few choice wines for my cellar when the tasting is done. But the truth is that I love telling you all about it even more. Hawkes. Easy name to remember. And hard wines to forget.

Zero stars. Had a burger and it was perhaps the worst burger ever. Dry and way overcooked and completely tasteless. When I returned to the counter to complain and told the person there that the food used to be a lot better, the person replied, "I know". I will never eat there again. Joel should be ashamed.

Great employees and even better wine.

A great little winery. Forget Silver Oak. Give Hawkes a shot!

Fantastic cabs, always fun tasting here. Unique in that they are 100% Cab. Great wine club, and just a super down to earth and friendly winery. In the COVID era they have an appointment system, outdoor seating and protocols down to facilitate a safe environment for everyone.

We were set up outside 6 feet away from other patrons. Staff made us feel welcome while explaining Covid19 tasting protocol. We were offered four good size tasting carafes. We really liked the Chardonnay and the Alexandra Valley Cabernet

People go to Anderson Valley for Cabernets. Hawkes' is good, but come here for their Merlot. Top notch.
