Another excellent dinner at Baran's with friendly, professional service and delicious food. We loved the gnocchi, hamachi sashimi, and the pork chop was tasty and juicy. The timing of food, the suggestions by our server, and the creative dishes made for a great dinner.
My friend and I have been waiting a long time to dine at Baran's 2239. We finally put it on the calendar and went there for dinner last night. We were so full of hope. The interior was quaint, but felt a bit like a coffee shop. Although I do love that feeling, I guess I was imagining a different setting for such a highly reviewed restaurant. Our server was a bit distant with us and we felt rushed. We understand tables need to be turned, but we were approached about our drinks and meal order, yet the gentle check-in to see how things were going, just didn't happen. I don't know how to explain other than it was not a warm, positive feeling. The food was good. Not as we had dreamed about. Burrata was decent. Nothing amazing. The sashimi was the BEST part. Then we split the cod fish entree and it was good. Again, nothing amazing. Just good. The dessert was not our favorite. It was too firm and cold. We want to sink our teeth into the bite and end the night with a smile. Instead, we got up because we felt our time "was up" and we walked out telling each other that we would not need to bring out hubbies to dine here. We spent (w/tip) over $200 and we had to split an entree. I wish I could leave a super positive review, but I am sharing what I would really want to know about any local eatery.
Our meal at Baran's was wonderful. The charcuterie board did not disappoint, the Hamachi was delicious and the steak sublime. Favorite bites were the thrice done potatoes! This hidden gem is obviously a favorite with locals and the staff know and treat them like family. Definitely recommend!!
Great food and service. We just went very late so no one else was there so ambience was just okay
Everything is good, the owner even greet us at the door when it was our reservation time. The owner also offered free birthday desert even though we didn't request it.
We love the food and staff here. Very innovative dishes, with so much thought and quality in the approach. Make sure you arrive early, parking is a challenge but it is worth it!
As always an awesome experience with the food and wine. Service is like being served by the family. They are great and treat you like you the most important person in the room. Always love coming back.
They never disappoint! This was the first time sitting at the bar, and it was a pleasant dining experience as well.
With a menu that is always changing a bit, each visit is an adventure. Last night our group feasted on charred broccolini and a grilled pork chop with creamed corn. Both were incredible. The best pork chop in recent memory. Baran's has deservedly been a top place for food in the South Bay for nearly a decade. Their specialty is combining flavors and textures in ways that are often hard to imagine, but are always delicious. The two dishes mentioned above are good examples.
Great breakfast burritos. Not the biggest around the area but the flavors were great and potatoes inside crispy.

I was very impressed with the food at Barans. Stand outs were Mediterranean beef tartare, spaghetti alla vongole, and pork chop. I will be going back.
High end restaurant. Small, with limited seating. Interesting menu with unique offerings. We were seated at 6:30 pm and it is quite noisy atmosphere. Our waitress was terrific . Quite exceptional
Incredibly thoughtful and diverse menu- from hors doerves to salads and main plates- all for sharing, very Californian gourmet style. Can't wait to go again !
Food was creative and delicious! It was a great way to celebrate our anniversary! Dishes are shareable, so we selected a variety of several items. Service was attentive, but not intrusive. Clean plates were offered after every dish. We especially enjoyed the potato crusted seabass, the maple apple salad, and the duck carnitas. The room is intimate, but my husband and son are very tall, so they were a little cramped.
Phenomenal experience! Somehow Baran's finds a way to keep getting even better. Amazing and creative food, personalized service, eclectic wine list. Enjoyed every bite.
