The ratatouille and pasta were phenomenal. The grilled chicken was fine but not great.
Service was the best I've had in years. Unbelievably friendly and also very flexible.
Atmosphere was chill with lovely french music.
Portions were super generous. Literally had two leftover lunches.

HUGE MISTAKE!!!
A friend recommended Cafe Bonaparte but we accidently ended up at Bonaparte Bistro instead. I'm not sure if there related.
The restaurant was kind of empty... That should've been a telltale sign of the reason...smh.
The location is great. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. However, the women's restroom had a clogged toilet. We had to inform the staff about it.
They have plenty of indoor seating and a great outside patio with umbrellas for shade and nice view of the pier. But there are lots of flies.
There was no hostess to seat us so we walked in and eventually one waitress said we can sit anywhere we wanted.
The menu has lots of options. We missed the brunch by two minutes (ends at 3pm) waitress said no expending... No big deal...so we ordered from the lunch/dinner menu.
Got the Grilled veggie sandwich with a side of fries. It was ok... nothing special about it. Just a bunch of cheap mid quality veggies that are grilled and slap between ciabatta.
Not sure why they charge $22 for it.
Also ordered The Pan Seared Branzino. It was also ok...nothing special about it. It was a bit dry and came with some dry potatoes and some mushy spinach. Again not sure why they charge $35.
Portions are adequate in size but lack flavor.
Service was mediocre.
IMO, for the amount they charge, you could easily get a much better quality meal elsewhere. The ingredients were meh and flavor was meh at best.
I would not recommend this restaurant.

Pizza margarita and truffle arugula with crispy chewy crust are the best in the area, hot jazz music by the beach and attentive service with heater to boot.

The food was delicious, Caroline recommended me the farmers market veggies and she was spot on with the description and had a lovely personality. Will definitely be coming back. Hopefully I get Carolone again as my server she made my day

I recently tried the pizza at Bonaparte Bistro, and I have to say it was one of the best I've had in a while! From the first bite, it was clear that they use top-quality ingredients and a lot of care in crafting their pizzas. The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with just the right thickness – not too thin, not too doughy.
The sauce was rich and flavorful, with a hint of herbs that didn’t overpower the fresh tomato taste. They clearly know how to balance the sauce-to-cheese ratio, because every bite had the perfect amount of both. As for the toppings, they were fresh, generous, and well distributed.
The service was fantastic too—our pizza arrived hot and right on time, and the staff was friendly and attentive. It’s rare to find a place that nails every aspect, but really impressed me. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a satisfying and delicious pizza experience!
I can’t wait to go back and try another specialty pizza. Five stars!

Gary is the pulse of the restaurant. Great company and great wait staff. And the French onion soup wasn't too hot.

A small nice French restaurant at Hermosa beach. We came here for vacation. We have a baby/toddler, so we decided to find a restaurant not too crowded or noisy. The manager Gary was very kind and friendly. The food was good, the service was excellent and the ambience was calm and relaxing with beautiful French classic music, we had a very good time. Quite a surprising find.
We had a great dinner at Napoleon. Everything tasted great - crab roll, trout, lamb and creme brulee - and the service by Gary was great as well.

Great location on the pier. Great view from the patio. Unfortunately, the homeless screaming and being aggressive at the entry was off-putting. In addition, the flies were wild and aggressive. Midway, we moved our large party inside and the flies were still out of control.
The hummus platter and French onion soup were divine.
Sadly, the flies will keep me from going back.
