Beautiful beachside cafe and retail shop located on Pier Ave in a historic building.. they have a beautiful patio and also a small dining room inside. Enter left for cafe, right for retail store.. excellent baked goods, sandwiches, salads, and plenty of great beverage selections. The egg white breakfast burrito was veggies rather than the typical breakfast meats and it was great. The chicken breast sandwich on the buckwheat bread was toasted to perfection and super tasty. The atmosphere is very charming beachside historic and reminds you of the age of Hermosa Beach.. original flooring and trim have been preserved from one of the oldest original buildings in town. The service was friendly and efficient with honest recommendations and everyone came out fast and perfecto even though they were nice and busy on a Saturday. Gum Tree is a great place to sit and relax, have a nice meal or a snack, shop for cool and unique housewares, gifts and beach related treasures. Located on the south side of Pier Ave between Monterey and Manhattan.

Such a charming spot in Hermosa Beach! I stopped in to browse and was blown away by the beautifully curated selection of gifts, home decor, and accessories. Everything feels thoughtfully chosen, with a coastal, laid-back vibe that perfectly matches the area. The shop is bright, inviting, and a great place to find unique treasures. I didn’t try the café, but the space looked just as welcoming. A must-visit if you’re in the neighborhood!

Very good place for breakfast or brunch! The sandwiches were very unique and among the better ones we had in the area. All of our orders also came with a side of fruits, which left us feeling very healthy :-).
When we were finished we cleaned our own table - not sure if that’s expected or not as we did it out of courtesy.

Beautiful little cafe with a nice outdoor terrace. Very cozy and the service is super friendly. The little shop next door is also great, you can find wonderful gifts here.Price-performance is right. The food is delicious and freshly prepared...I felt very well.

Nothing special with the exception of eating in Hermosa Beach, laid back unlike my neighborhood. The sandwiches were decent, actually pretty good. The help always looks a little stressed, most of the time marginally friendly. The clientele reflected the high income neighborhood complete with aviator sunglasses and this week's boot fashion (full retail, wouldn't be caught dead wearing something that they picked up from a sale). That always provides good entertainment, especially if you're bored.
