Mama D's Original Italian Restaurant - Hermosa Beach

This is a great place to bring a family, date, or dine alone. The food is great! Every dish is put together with love and pride. The atmosphere is like being at your grandma's or relatives for sunday dinner, warm, welcoming, you feel like family. Ive been coming here for years and it never seems to change, always the same great place.

The place is a little small from from homemade ravioli that is terrific to excellent salads and soups, it's worth the trip.

Our waitress was wonderful however a man who seemingly was some sort of Manager or Owner comes up to us mid meal and starting chatting with us at first just small talk, then he makes a comment about us “not being able to hangout here” and then proceeds to sit at the table next to us and talks about how we’re talking forever and that we need to leave because there are people waiting for our table. Mind you this is before we even got our food. Once we got our food he got up and told our waitress to bring us the check most of us were not quite finished with our food and we had only been there for maybe 30 minutes and only 10 of that did we actually have food in front of us. Once we left I saw a couple of empty tables so I don’t know what he was complaining about. The thing that felt weird to me was that the party I was with consisted of a queer and Hispanic couple, I never saw the manager talk to any other tables either kinda weird if you ask me. Food and wait staff were great and the other locations seem to be fine but I’d avoid this one if you don’t want to be rushed through your meal.

We had high hopes for The Original Mama D's, but unfortunately, the appetizer and both main dishes were very salty and didn’t taste great, and the wine was also disappointing. However, the staff were really nice and accommodating. When we mentioned our concerns, they kindly offered to replace our meal. Because of their good service, we’re giving two stars. They really need to work on changing how the kitchen operates.

When old fashioned meets 2025 it's a win!! I'm a senior citizen and I have old values - caring, kindness, service, quality and cleanliness.
Mama 's fits the bill.
We came for a Birthday meal , the only disappointment was that there were no desserts. ( Fresh hot cookies were given tho.)
A place with a friendly atmosphere and people who leasurely enjoy their meal with wine for those who embibe.
We live 45 minutes away, but it was worth it, and parking is good too

Mama Ds is amazing and our server Mia was the nicest person in the world to my son. This was my first time here and it was just great! The food was amazing and everyone was nice!
