Great food and drinks. It was busy on a Tuesday night but the server did a great job with our party of 8.

I had booked this place for myself and my family to have a reunion after quite some time. When we arrived to the door they told us they were preparing our table. Our reservation was for 7:30. 10 minutes later we were still standing outside the door. I asked what was happening and they said they were just preparing the table. We are patient people so we continued to wait.

However, after 25 minutes passed with no communication or hope of a table (that we had reserved) we began to feel less patient. I went and asked for a fourth time what was happening and the manager said “I think we can sit you at the bar”.

Seeing as we were a bigger group, I declined- the whole purpose of the dinner was to catch up after a long time away. Eventually after 30 minutes standing outside a member of staff said we could go and stand at the bar to order a drink. It was only after we suggested it be comped that the manager agreed.

A staff member pointed out our table, saying it was being cleared, but no one returned to seat us - so we eventually sat ourselves. When the waitress arrived, she rather harshly questioned us for doing so.

A really badly communicated and horribly managed experience overall. I must say, when we eventually got to sit the food and drinks were very good. It was disappointing that the manager never came back to check in. Thank you to the bartender for making really great drinks to soften the blow!

Sad to report that my hopes that I’d love this place were dashed. It’s nicely decorated inside for sure, but the food was mediocre at best and they got my food order protein add-on wrong. Four of us ate and everyone agreed the food was forgettable.

Also, their reservation system gave me the last/only 4:45 pm slot (I thought it was weird they’d be packed inside at that time but hey, what do i know, it’s a new and popular place. There was nothing for 5pm either or anything up until 8pm again. When we got there at 4:45 on the dot the place was empty except for a few people at the bar. Not one table was occupied for a long while.

Great tiki bar right on Hermosa pier. It's a great spot for tiki cocktails and food. I had the octopus with hummus that was braised well and didn't have the rubbery texture at all. My friends enjoyed garlic noodles with chicken addon and the yuca fries with yuzu aioli was a table favorite.

The staff was very attentive and nice and helpful in suggestions. The tiki themed spot is neat and unique especially compared to the other venues on the pier. It has a nice tiki interior aesthetic and vibes.

Rainy Day

We encountered very weird service here. I came here for my husbands birthday and we booked a booth for 8 people. We each had a cocktail and one person from our group was in the bathroom and our waiter came up and said we have too many drinks and he has to take back some or else he would get in trouble. He started to take one and we had to count for him to tell him every person there had one drink and our friend was in the bathroom. He then realized and left. Weird and made us uncomfortable. He also kept on taking cola drinks that were only half empty and giving new ones. My friends that weren’t drinking had to keep telling him she wasn’t done with her cola.
Then when we were told we had to leave cause we had passed our two hour time limit, they very much rushed us out to the point we hadn’t finished our drinks. We were constantly spending money the whole time so rushing us out was kinda rude and made us more uncomfortable.
As we were saying goodbye to some of our friends, as we were walking out, staff rudely said “excuse me” to move so they can clean the table. Like chill, we are literally leaving, give us a minute to say goodbye.
While the food and drinks were great, the service was weird, rushed and don’t think I’d come here for a birthday again.

Cocktails and atmosphere are the standouts here. Food was good, service lacked a bit of energy and friendliness. We were asked to rush to get our order in, but then it didn’t seem to matter.

They lose me on value for the $ spent. My bill was $88 including tip and I had one main, one drink, and dessert. The portion of black miso cod was the biggest offender, it tasted phenomenal, that was not the issue. My drink was strong and well balanced. The Basked Alaska dessert was the best thing I had.

So good. 🌴✨
Tiki Kai did not miss — the garlic noodles were packed with flavor, the short ribs were perfectly tender, and the crab wontons + crispy rice were a chef’s kiss combo. Fun vibes, great food, would 100% go back.

Was excited to try this new spot. Decor and vibe were great for drinks, and the apps were solid, but was disappointed in all three drinks I had tried, especially for that price point.
