The Manager Alex is not fit for the service industry. Don't take my word for it, ask his staff. Shortly after my group was seated, the manager, Alex, came over and told us we should not have been seated in that area, despite having it reserved and calling in beforehand to double confirm, and he asked us to hurry up, even though our drinks hadn't arrived yet as the next party wouldn't be arriving for another 3 hours.... It was very strange and confrontational way to start the dinner. The entire party wanted to leave. Later in the evening, Alex approached us again when we paused near the bar area to look at the decor. He told us we shouldn't be standing by the bar or evening be inside, even though we were simply on our way to the restroom. At the end he screamed, GOOD FOR YOU in our faces and ran away while sniffing uncontrollably. You will be able to find Alex as he is standing in for GM while they hire one, but his official title is Operations Manager. I know all of this because his staff (I spoke to 2 employees) has issues with him too. You can identify him by the bald patch on the back of his head. Tiki Kai is fine but avoid this man before he ruins your dinner as well. Crazy way to spend $500

I was taking my young one to go out and experience new experiences, new foods and atmosphere, and Tiki Kai went beyond my expectations. When Hermosa Beach became a little rougher and dirtier than I remember in all my years coming here, Tiki Kai was a fantastic rediscovery. This place will hopefully lead to the renaissance of the area.

I've traveled abroad and been to many great restaurants on both sides of the Pacific, and Tiki Kai really gets the point. Drinks: tasty and strong with subtle flavors (the lycee martini my favorite). Food: well balanced portions for place that promotes itself as a bar, filling but not fattening, and the seafood and ribs that we enjoyed were phenomenal. I am spoiling my young one by taking to places like this that set the bar really high, and then he has to go to other places and not have the same great experience.

Best of all was our server Khulani (my apologies for not getting your name spelled correctly!). This is the standard of service and class that she provided was a surprise, and she went out of her way to make sure that we were really welcomed at the Tiki Kai. Such a radiant positive attitude and quick attention to service. The tiki bar was bright and colorful and full of positive energy, and she embodied the ambiance in her cheerful demeanor. And she genuinely meant it.

We will come back with a larger party, and I plan to have my big celebrations here.

I’ve been watching this restaurant come together and have been looking forward to trying it for many months now. However, they have an arrogant attitude and rudely refused to allow me to enter with my service dog. I even told them that that’s a violation of the law, but the hostess just shrugged. They seem to think they can make up their own rules and laws.

Kristina and I had an amazing time enjoying delicious food and Mai Tais at the brand-new Tiki Kai located at the Hermosa Pier complex. The spacious interior features a vibrant tiki-themed atmosphere throughout, making for a truly enjoyable experience.

We came here with friends who arrived a few minutes before us and were already seated. When we arrived, we were told it would be a few minutes because the restaurant was at capacity, which was understandable. However, when I asked to use the restroom while we waited, the hostess refused to let me. That’s completely unacceptable, and we will not be returning.

We made a reservation for a party of 6 and had an add-on. Since they were just opening we couldn’t reach anyone on the phone to update our reservation. They were so kind to accommodate our party. Kelly was a very attentive server and the bus staff kept our water glasses full and plates bussed. I highly recommend getting some Pupu to share. Firecracker shrimp, ceviche, sticky ribs, crab rangoons were all stand outs. The Hawaiian salad was so fresh and flavorful and the garlic noodles were delicious. The mahi mahi had the most unique purple potatoes that were so tasty! We drank Mai Tais and Lychee Martinis - we will be back for sure! We added more tip for our server on our large party and had a blast. Alex was also a stand out and accommodated our party. Highly recommend!!

Nothing but 5 stars! This spot has transformed beautifully over the years — it used to be BrewCo and before that, Mediterraneo — but now it’s Tiki Kai and wow, they absolutely nailed it. 🌺

The service was incredible from start to finish. The GM even came out personally to introduce herself and make sure everyone was having a great time and enjoying the food and drinks — such a nice touch that you rarely see anymore.

My friend Cass and I had three of their tiki cocktails, and we were shocked to see that every single one was under $20. They were gorgeous, balanced, and strong (in the best way). 🍹

The food matches the vibe — tropical, Hawaiian, island-inspired, and full of flavor. Every bite felt like a mini getaway. Between the drinks, food, and ocean breeze, it’s the perfect pier spot.

We’ll definitely be back again soon!

I can’t believe for a restaurant that just opened that it could be so “on point” with its service, food and drink. When you go, be sure to order the mahi and the garlic pasta (yum to the yum) and maybe have the lychee martini. You don’t have to dress the part, but if you do, you won’t be turned away if you wear a Polynesian get up. Because… why not?
And, look for the worker named Alex who has the biggest smile and friendliest of service. This is a great addition to the already beautiful of beautiful, Hermosa Beach. I will be back!!!

So glad that a tiki bar opened in Hermosa. The interior and exterior are amazing. The tiki music makes you feel like you are in a different place.

The staff were all amazing. Service was quick especially for the first day opened and the conversation with them at the bar was nice.

The food and drink were great. I will be back very soon and purchasing some tiki mugs!
