Great American Grill is a nice and clean restaurant. The ambiance is very nice and relaxing. The staff however is a toss up. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's not so great. The food is pretty solid. Again, also a toss up. Sometimes very good and sometimes not so good. This place is a solid middle of the ground establishment. I would recommend it if you do not want to drive to Turlock.

We had been to this restaurant before when the previous owners had it and the food was always great as well as the service. Today, we went in there as the hours stated they were open for business. The door was open, but there was no one in there but the cook. We stood for a while to be greeted, we walked around the restaurant where the cook saw us, but never said a word. The restaurant was empty and cold. My husband and I felt uncomfortable and awkward. Sadly we walked out and will not be returning. Best of luck to the new owners as it was once a great place to go to.

I have eaten here many times and I’ve always had a great experience. Some servers are more enthusiastic than others but they are overall happy to help. The main reason for my review is because I recently booked our office Christmas party here, it hasn’t even happened yet, but I had to brag about Casey! He was so helpful, funny, and patient in helping me make all the right choices for our Christmas party. He went above and beyond to make sure we got what we wanted and kept it in our budget. His service and adaptability is what every business should be looking to hire! I can go on and on but seriously, Great American Grill is lucky to have Casey and he will be one of the many reasons we keep coming back.

If I could give zero stars I would. No one was in the restaurant no hostess no hello after standing there for several mins. We saw a young man got his attention he said sit wherever. No server came by we flagged same kid down but it was awful from start to finish! Never got our appetizer, no silverware, food was awful! It's funny because I saw tri tip ends on ig NOT what they look like & they are NOT good at all I got this as my entree. My husband got a burger it was horrible! Cooks were singing, (great music) but they have no skills, bartender, servers were just all talking doing nothing. So disappointing! DO NOT GO HERE!!!

We went on a Saturday afternoon for our first time and we won't be back. Walked inside and the place was empty nobody to greet us. We eventually meandered over to the bar for a seat after we saw a chef so we figured they were open. Out comes the server and makes us a drink but we had to ask for food menus. Our server seemed like she didn't want to be there. We told her we were having a couple of drinks and then getting some food to-go. Our to-go order included food for another family member who was not present. She came back over to the bar and made us our second round and then disappeared again. When she appeared back it was with a newly employed server in which she was training. They spent so much time away from us doing the "training" we ran out of time to order food because she never checked back with us to get our food order (at least an $80 bill+drinks). We went to the front and found them at the cash register in which we paid for our drinks and left. While we were paying the server said "don't you want any food?" and we said "No, we ran out of time."

Went on Thursday October 5, 2023 for the Thursday night prime rib we ordered 3 of the $42 Prime Ribs and a $40 NY steak dinner.The prime ribs were blue because they were so raw, potatoes and vegetables were so salty we couldn't eat those either!!The worst part was the NY!! Completely Burnt on the outside and raw inside, potatoes and broccoli were black and burnt ! I didn't even know you could burn broccoli but they managed!

First time visiting Great American Grill, and it is a hidden gem in Hilmar! This is more than just a restaurant. We started with Dinner inside which was amazing and we got amazing service. My date and I then went outside and enjoyed drinks and live music on the patio. This is definitely a must visit restaurant.

Food is delicious! Had a Teriyaki Bowl it was so good. Price, service, cleanliness was perfect.
Really liked this place! Went for lunch and to get some work done while driving through. The food was amazing! I will definitely return when ever I'm in the area to try more of their menu items. It was clean, nice patio area and the service was great! I think it would be a great place to try for dinner. Loved the vibe and food!

This restaurant was absolutely amazing, I ordered the steak salad and the steak was very well seasoned and a perfect medium rare. The salad was really fresh with a lot of color that brighten the dish, my family and I even made friends with the waitress and the waiter, who gave us the best customer service, the food was a little pricey but definitely worth going to, 10/10 would eat here again!!!

Tried to have dinner here last night. Haven't been here in about a year and wanted to try it again. Arrived just about 7 pm. Waited for someone to acknowledge and seat us. Cooks saw us. Bartender saw us, but was visiting with some friends at the bar. Walked further into the restaurant and she annoyingly said, "just sit anywhere"!That was an indicator of how the night was going to go, so we aborted early, turned around and left. It's a shame that staff can be so unwelcoming...to people wanting to give them money!We'll cross this one off our list for good!
