Greasy and messy double cheeseburger, with worrisome texture in the patty. Felt incredibly heavy in the wrong ways. Was not able to finish the mac and cheese, not the right flavor, or consistency. Overall disappointing 😕

Got the veggie grilled cheese, it was good, but had American cheese on instead of cheddar as advertised.

Nice place to grab lunch on campus. The food is great, prices are very reasonable, and there are healthy options like a lettuce wrap instead of a bun. It’s definitely a better choice than fast food.

I like Root 217 for their cheap and tasty black bean burger. It's healthy and filling, and while I love faux meat burgers, sometimes I miss the simplicity of a black bean burger.

Great comfort food. I come here whenever I’m on campus to grab a quick lunch. I recommend the chili dog, the mac n’ cheese, and the mushroom Swiss burger.

The vegan burger (plus the combo fries and drink) is amazing. Probably the best clearly-labelled vegan burger you're going to get in the area, since it has a good patty, a good bun, and a delicious thousand island sauce, and the vegan options in IV are lacking… $10 for a vegan burger, fries, and drink is better than almost any place I've been to. Fast service, but you eat in a cafeteria-like setting. Haven't tried the black bean or hummus burger, but I'm sure they're good too. I come here every week as a lunch between my classes.

Little salty, but quality of burger patty is superior.Reminds me of Cal Taco before theirs went to p**** I'm putting five stars to help bring up average rating, because it really is a decent burger.

Decent food. Nice options and sides.

Burgers are marginal. Wedge salad is pretty good, and might be the only appropriately priced item on the menu. This menu feels heavy and unimaginative.

Since campus re-opened, they've rebranded as just "root", and have pared down their menu to focus exclusively on burgers, chicken sandwiches, and salads. I haven't tried the latter two items yet, but the quality of their burgers has gone up. I had the mushroom swiss burger and it was fully cooked yet still juicy, with a generous amount of pepper seasoning the patty. Their onion rings are well above average, too, crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth soft on the inside. This may now be the best burger place in the campus/IV area.
