Overall, good, but I wouldn't say great place. Service was really great at the bar. Ambience is fine but not special. The two double doors on the one side of the restaurant are opening and closing all night: bringing in cold air. So based on the weather that can be an issue. We had a good restaurant coupon to save a little and we took advantage of that. Certainly the nicest place in Ladera Ranch.
First, we definitely had a great night at Rancho Capistrano Winery. The staff was incredibly kind, but service was a bit slow on Friday night. We received our first round of drinks quickly but our empty glasses sat for about 15-20 minutes before our waiter came by to ask about refills. We probably would have gone for a third round but I barely had time to finish my second drink due to the delay. Not a big deal at all though, they were clearly busy. It is very noisy inside and every voice echos from all the hard surfaces. It is themed fantastically though. Unfortunately the outside noise level isn't much better and while the fresh air is nice, there was very little ambiance and it didn't feel like the restaurant theme and decor made it to the patio. We were sat next to a very loud table and found ourselves almost having to yell to each other to hold a conversation due to the echo. The dinner was great and the dessert was even better. My pizza was very greasy and floppy but the crust was fantastic. Quality was there for sure. Not a bad restaurant at all and the staff is very friendly but I don't see us returning.

Loved the food and wine tastings. I've already recommended this place to several places (and we just went there yesterday!). Only drawback -- but it is a wine place after all -- is that it was a bit pricey.

Great experience although by the time we arrived they were out of shrimp. (Kids had practice lol) Not to worry as they quickly made it right! Service was 10+ Dinner was 10 dessert I'd suggest something different. Great pairings as well. We will be back and likely make it a date night location!

My GF and I really enjoyed the wine pairing experience for Valentine's Day! She had the Chilean Sea Bass and I had the Filet & Shrimp Scampi which was fantastic. Service was excellent!!

We had the Valentine's Day menu with wine pairings and ate outside. The butternut squash soup was fabulous. My husband had the filet and shrimp which were also excellent. I had the Chilean Sea Bass which had an excellent sauce but should have been a bit more flakey. At first I was concerned about being outside but the heaters were great and they give you really nice blankets which was a really nice touch. When we finished out meal and walked through the restaurant I was actually happy we had decided to go outside because it was quite noisy inside. The wine pairings were great and enhanced the meal. We will definitely go back again.

This was an amazing Valentine's meal paired with tastings of wine at each course. The chef created a menu that was special and accommodated people with allergies and food sensitivities. The entire staff worked skillfully, as a team and were very pleasant. I would highly recommend Rancho Capistrano Winery, Ladera Ranch location.

We love coming here. Last years valentines dinner was incredible. This one was okay. Not worth the upcharge from last year. Starters were bland. Main course amazing! But then the sponge cake was overcooked. Kinda disappointed.

Over charged on happy hour drinks, complained and they corrected all but one, that one was ordered at 5:55. It was my wife's birthday and expected a complementary desert, not the case? This was our first time at this establishment and was not sure what was normal, we eat out a lot. Thanks, Larry Grills

Our first time dining here. Was not aware they only served beer and wine. Servers kept switching out, server never came by to see if we needed anything after we received our entrees. Mashed potatos were tasteless. Would not come back.

From the hostess to the server and the busboy, it was a very nice experience. They were all very kind and pleasant. The service was great and the food was delicious. We will definitely go back.

We had reservations for four and were disappointed that we couldn't be seated in a booth. Menu items were good yet pricey. Zinfandel pleasant but without a big “zin”finish. Took forever to get dessert.
