Slowest service in the history of service a there is never a true reason why . No matter the rims or day I come in , it will take forever . At the moment there is literally one other guest in the restaurant, yet still it took 15 min to get water .
Excellent seating hostesses. Our waitress was very sweet and welcoming. It seems she knew many guests by name.
I ordered the broiled salmon Salad. It was delicious. I did not care for the tomato gazpacho dressing but it was delicious with blue cheese dressing.
The calamari appetizer was good. Delicious but lots of crispy breading. May try another appetizer next visit.
My husband had the ribeye. He enjoyed his meal. The steak looked flavorful and good char marks.
The complimentary bread and butter was excellent. I would come back just for the mini fry bread alone.
Prices are reasonable and portions are generous.

Before the pandemic I visited them on several occasions, they were at the level of expectation due to the price and quality of the ingredients. Now in 2025 I will return. The worst food I have ever tried is low quality, poor presentation of the dishes and microwave flavors.

an insane amount of food for the price, you can tell this is more like an amenity subsidized by the casino rather than a business trying to maximize profit
Won money at the casino, then lost all my time from the terrible service, it felt like purgatory. Our party waited 30 minutes to get our check run.

Garret our waiter tried to start a physical fight with us over a low tip for poor service.
The steak and eggs keeps getting smaller and tougher. I ordered green tea with it and was brought tea cup and a container with hot water. Towards the end pouring my hot water an old tea bag fell out that I’m sure went through many wash cycles. Gross haven’t been back since, it’s been a couple months. All the food has just dropped in quality. With so many other casino options definitely not eating here. Even HoWo s has declined.

First time being at this place since pre Covid. The food was very tasty and reasonably priced, however the food could have been a little hotter. The soup and garlic mashed potatoes were lukewarm and the prime rib was a little over charred. The lighting was pretty dark for 1:00-2:00pm on weekend. Other than that service was good and I will be back.

Restaurantji Recommends
There was a 20 minute wait, but they do text messages now, so my wife and I could keep winning in the Casino.
This was a great value and really good food. Simple as it was, I had a bowl of oatmeal with extra raisins, and my wife had the always good bowl of Chicken Tortilla Soup.
Totally filling and satisfying, the cherry on top was, with my wife’s player card, our server returned with the check already totally paid.
Highly recommend you visit Barona Casino, and Sage Cafe!

Reservations recommended. 1-2 hour waits depending on the size of your party and how busy it is. Tables spaced far apart. Service is personable and efficient. Large portions on food, good quality, ambience is quiet but can be a little loud depending on how drunk the patrons are. Pro tip: the fried chicken is bland, not crispy and needs more seasoning, the sinigang and oxtail bolalo soups can feed 3-4, bring your own large serving spoon, the server will not offer one.
