This place is amazing and the serving sizes are big so bring an appetite when you come. Parking is a pain when it's crowded so just beware of that.
One of my favorite places in Long Beach, which are very few. Because Long Beach has a very small number of restaurants that are worth coming back for a second time.
Sunrise Cafe is one of them. Affordable and tasty. The food tastes like food. Nice portions that are worth the price. Good salsa, which is very rare in Long Beach. Nice and clean place, good customer service. You won't regret coming to have a nice meal at this place.
The only thing that I don't like about this place is that they close at 3:00 pm. It would be nice to be able to come late at night to have a chicken Philly with home fries and lots of salsa. You have to try it. It is good.

As most of you guys know, prices have increased in general, and portions have gotten smaller. The last two times that I have come to this place, the Philly cheesteak seemed to be missing beef. Way smaller beef portion. I am disappointed.
I also noticed that when I got my bill, they suggested a 30% tip. I know that it is not enforced nor mandatory, but as I mentioned before, the bad economy is affecting most customer's pockets, plus prices are way high over all, and portions are smaller than before. So by suggesting a 30% tip, I feel that eating out experience is not that enjoyable anymore.
Looking at that kind of tip on my bill ruined my meal, and I feel that up to a certain point, it is insulting to customers who are having a hard time making ends meet.
Decent food ( I had Breakfast). Place is filthy. No frills. No presentation of food. Good place to grab a bite and leave.
(Owner: please pressure wash the floor and do some Paint touchups. Jeez!)
Small place but crowded. Food was good but small portions and service was good. Good customer Service
Really good breakfast and most of it is homemade, like the hot sauce/salsa, jam and maybe sourdough bread. Very reasonably priced.
Nice little restaurant. The food is really good. We went for breakfast. Everything was great.
Trash food, potatoes burnt, bland. Service poor. Atmosphere crowded.

Came to try this out because they had a cute train and we love homestyle cooking. When we came the host was kind and sat us down and asked for us our drinks. It took our server ( Mayra is what our check said but never stop long enough to even tell us her name) a very long time to come get our order but we chopped that up to being busy. But as we continue it came very apparent that she was ignoring our table. She came a total of three times to our table. We were serviced by every other server or host but our server. We had three people handle our check and had to ask for our card back. To top it off one of our order was wrong, over cook steak but I don't feel it was the cooks fault since everything else tasted great. I do hope this was just a bad server experience, but we will probably not be running to come back any time soon.

Is it normal for food to come out within a minute or two after placing your order? And for that food to be cold? It's like they repurposed an order that someone changed their minds about and didn't eat.
Honestly I only finished my plate because I was just that hungry but I wouldn't come back here even if it was the last place in earth where one can have a meal.
Overwhelmingly disappointing, especially since I've heard for years how great this place is.

You can't miss with the food here. My favorites are the Eggs Benedict and Chicken Fried Steak. The home fries and salsa are really good too.

It used to be THE place to go but today:
Insulted and Spoiled beans!!!!!
The Machaca dish was an insult - it was raw onion And raw tomatoes (literally) with a bit of flavorless meat, a few tiny pieces of egg and no salt added (the majority of the meal was raw onions) The potatoes are a mess and also with no salt or pepper at all. The salsa is freakin Joke - just flavorless tomatoes, the coffee is tinted water and who knows where the orange juice comes from. What a miserable experience after a drive planned to go there. ?

These place has the best breakfast and all kinds of delicious food. It's better than IHOP, Denny's, or Norms. Even cafe tastes really fresh. The attendants know the importance of customer service.
