Our family had dinner here first time, my husband had checked reviews for the best Japanese restaurant in the area. We we all happy with the dishes we ordered. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Excellent food and service.

Not so great sushi. Sushi roll was full of rice and very less filling and toppings.

Worst sushi ever - please do not come to this place if you want good filing in your sushi

This place is amazing. The staff are super personable, the food is delicious and top quality, and the atmosphere is very chill. One of my favorite places to go to.

Parking: A medium parking lot with lots of stores surrounding. Often hard to get parking at high traffic times.

My family and I had a very disappointing experience at Amici Sushi. This was our first visit, and it will definitely be our last.

We ordered three rolls, including the salmon skin roll, which was so vile that my husband and I almost puked after one bite. We couldn’t eat any more of it. Our daughter had the chicken teriyaki, which was extremely dry and bland, and the miso soup was overly salty. She couldn’t stomach either of them, and neither could we.

The service was just as bad as the food. The two servers, a guy and a girl, had very poor attitudes and left us hanging at the table. They never asked about our food and took a long time to bring our drinks. We felt completely ignored while they hung out at the back and the register.

Additionally, the restaurant was playing really loud techno music, which was very overwhelming and completely unnecessary. It made the whole dining experience even worse.

Honestly, we would have had a better experience eating at the McDonald’s across the street. Amici Sushi is a never-again for us, and I strongly advise others to avoid it as well.

I had unagi sushi and tempura shrimp with misi soup and salad. Very good.

Parking: There is 4 other restaurants in the same lot so it gets crowded.

Check your takeout order. Ordered an Eel/avocado roll and could not see a single piece of eel in any of the pieces- just avocado. The host had to ask if there was any eel in it.

If you pass through Lathrop, California on Interstate 5, I recommend stopping at this restaurant for sushi and sashimi and other Japanese dishes. The Hamachi (yellowtail) and otoro (tuna belly) were excellent. The sashimi was accompanied by fresh wasabi - loved it. Enjoyed the soft shelled crab, flying fish roe, and uni (sea urchin), too. Fresh uni from Santa Barbara. The shrimp and vegetable tempura were lightly breaded, hot, and crisp. We had two orders of shrimp tempura. The waiter John was fun to talk to. Lots of energy and lots of good recommendations. Excellent selection of beer and Sake. John recommended the Funaguchi Kikusui Sake which is un-pasteurized and undiluted. It was a perfect pairing with the sashimi. There were a few issues. The ginger slices were cut too big like the size of two of your fingers. Tables are close together. The restaurant is on the corner of a strip mall, so seating is a little tight. We wanted to chat with the owner, but he was preoccupied. The restaurant closed 20 minutes early, and they started putting chairs on top of the tables while we were still eating.
