Closed Down For Ever I can't believe I'll never be able to have another meal here again. Who needed an IHOP

I am so sad they close down this iron skillet permanently. They're remodeling it to be in IHOP. It's just unbelievable cuz they have the best food at iron skillet. It's a sad day to no longer have an iron skillet

Currently the Iron Skillet is closed due to remodeling. It will reopen as an IHOP in 2022. Despite the remodel there are currently nice clean bathrooms, a convenience store and an Ice Cream shop.

We usually stop to charge at the super chargers and will come into the truck stop to use the restroom and get snacks but during COVID they would closer earlier and so we weren't able to try the food but we came home earlier one day and it was great. I got the breaded chicken sandwich and that was really good and the fries slapped too. We came back early again couple weeks ago and they were open so we stopped to eat and charge. The charging was done before the food even came out and they were quick getting our food out so that says alot about the charging but also the speediness of the establishment. I enjoy the food and it does have a more home made feel that you won't get with any of the other places around. I would rather stop and eat this than get fast food. So whenever we make it in time we will stop to eat here. A lot of people stop and the servers are very nice and attentive. Thankful for the good times we have stopped. We will be back :)

Stopped by here before driving through the mountains to LA. This was a quaint American diner serving a variety of brunch food. The restaurant wasn't too crowded during lunch hours; there was cool AC and many clean tables with charging ports available. We were able to sit down, order, and get our food quite quickly and were back on the road without much delay. My friends all got the special spicy Nashville chicken sandwich with fries for ~$12 while I opted for the farmer's omelette for $15. The omelette was served on an iron skillet and was stuffed with mushrooms, onions and bacon and topped with savory gravy. It was quite tasty especially when accompanied by some spicy Tabasco sauce (I might have added too much Tabasco since I was the one asking for more water while my friends were unfazed by their supposedly 'spicy' chicken sandwiches). The omelette came with a side of broccoli and buttered whole wheat toast, so it was a filling and healthy meal overall.

If you want comfort food while on a roadtrip, give this place a try. Often tied to Petro Stations, this little gem of a restaurant chain offers you a great meal at a decent price. There's no thrills and frills, just good quality breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. And the fun this is, everything is served in a skillet. I absolutely fall for some gimmick like this, it makes the restaurant stand out. Now not only is the food good but the service is top notch. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, the waitress we had did a fantastic job. I ordered their chicken tenders while my husband had their fish. Both came out at the same time, well-seasoned and with all the fixings. If we every needed anything, like extra ketchup or dipping sauce, our server was at the ready. Our glasses never were empty, either. And all the while, she did so without every interrupting the flow of our conversation and never pressuring us to hurry. The portions were so big we didn't even have room for dessert--although what they offered looked tasty. All in all, I highly recommend this place. Consider this restaurant your little oasis on the road.

We left the Bay Area at 7 in the AM and headed for San Diego. Apart from a 45 minute delay in Castro Valley (thanks to a combination of an accident, the merge of 238 onto 580, two other major thoroughfares spilling their wares onto the freeway, and losing a lane for good measure), we were making good time. That being said, 1PM rolled around, and after the long dull stretch on I-5, we were ready for lunch. And what was beckoning but the Iron Skillet? We'd last visited that chain on our way to Oregon in 2011, stopping in Corning, and it had fulfilled our stereotype of a truck stop greasy spoon. Eleven years roll by, and we're in a different spot, with a far different outlook. This franchise seems to cater to Joe and Julie Traveler - a wide range of options, including some veggie and fish choices. As a bonus, there are plenty of napkins, and if you need mustard or hot sauce, all you have to do is ask, and you'll receive, sans attitude. Decent stop, decent food, decent price, decent experience!

When traveling to Los Angeles. I always stopped at the rest stop before grapevine. But never had eaten at the iron skillet. I decided to give it a try this time. Had a great breakfast. Fast service and with a welcoming staff. I would definitely visit there again. if you ever get a chance to stop by for a quick breakfast. You won't be disappointed, I wasn't.

We visited this place on a weekday afternoon for lunch. There's only indoor seating available and ample parking. The waitress was super friendly and attentive, however food took a while to come out. I ordered the Nashville Hot Dipt' Chicken Sandwich with Fries. This spicy sandwich is not on the regular menu and has to be specifically requested. Overall, the food wasn't bad, but the sauce and the ranch were a bit on salty side, while the fries were not very seasoned. However, the chicken was spicy as advertised! The food is all plated on an iron skillet (rather than a plate) which is such a cool touch! Overall, the service was great, but would try other options if I'm back in the future.

Burger steak smothered in gravey with sauted mushrooms and onions over the top your choice of side dish too. Came with a delicious salad and a cheese biscuit. Breakfasts are good too. My only complaint is that they don't serve it too you in an ' Iron Skillet ' as the restaurant name implies, it's aluminum...haha! Guess it's okay though because it makes it easier on the wait staff to handle. Oops, almost forgot, the coffee wasn't very good but the did give you an insulated pitcher with enough for three cups which I thought was a great idea.

My wife came here a few weeks ago and was very impressed. She said I would love it and I did! The portions are good and I left happy and full. The Chicken Fried Steak with white gravy had all the mouthwatering flavors I could ask for. I wanted brown gravy on my mashed potatoes so they were very accommodating and served it on the side. My wife had eggs, bacon, and hash browns. We had wonderful and attentive service. We will definitely be coming back for a visit. The food is served on skillets.

Staff was nice. I've been here a few times now. There's one waitress that stares at me every time I'm in there. She's not rude in any way. Very nice, just weirds me out with the staring. Food isn't bad. But the last time we ate here, the food was really dry. I ordered a chicken sandwich with tater tots. Tots were really good. But the chicken was SO DRY! I had to literally add ranch to every bite just to get it down. My husband ordered a burger and loaded baked potato. He said the potato was really dry. He also had to literally add condiments to get it down. And while we were waiting on our meals, a guy across from us actually had to send his baked potato back to the kitchen because it was still hard and undercooked.

Service was ok and the restaurant was very cute and clean but food was disgusting. I had the smothered steerburger. Just the smell turned me off but I tried to eat it anyway. It tasted as bad as it smelled. The two pieces of toast that came with it were the best thing I got. My husband ordered a steak which was paper thin but taste was ok. Ordered medium but came well done.
