I heard this place is the best pizza in town. My friend came out of town so we could try this place for the first time. The pizza was greasy and thin. The service was worse. We were rushed through our meal. I wasn’t done eating and the waitress brought boxes for our leftovers and brought the bill. She didn’t ask if we wanted dessert or anything else. She kept coming back to our table, checking to see if we were ready to pay. As soon as we paid, we were asked to leave. Another staff member explained that there is an hour and a half time limit, people are waiting, so we can continue our conversation outside the establishment. She even used hand gestures. I definitely won’t be back.

Perfectly wood fired pizza.

I arrived around 5:30pm on a Saturday and didn't get seated until 7pm! 😲 So go right when they open!

I ordered the Amatriciana pizza (smoked pork belly, red onion, red sauce, garlic, pecorino). The crust is so paper thin, yet it folds and holds the sauce perfectly. The pork belly and red sauce were fantastic. The dough has the perfect amount of moisture. Every bite of Guantonio's pizza was marvelous. 100% recommended!

Just in town for a night, this place was 2 blocks down from our AirBnB, high ratings, which we definitely echo! Small place, we had no reservation but they seated us right away at the counter looking at the kitchen and service area. That was a blast for us to watch and the food was excellent! Will be back if we are here again!

The best! The pizza is great. Excellent variety including vegetarian options but delicious classics also. The Non Pizza choices are sometimes even more exciting than the pizza itself. Even if you think you’re not a veggie person, just order a veggie dish. It will blow your mind. The combination of flavors and fresh ingredients is modern and chefs kiss. It’s a small place so get there early or just be prepared to wait. Grab a drink. Don’t forget the twist sundae at the end of the meal. You won’t forget it. Also- don’t sleep on burger hour

I have been here about 10 times this year. I travel to Lodi every other week, and has become a Thursday night (usually) favorite. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about the food and the wine. I really appreciate that they change up the appetizers/salads based on what they can get fresh. I have asked for recommendations from the staff on the salads and the pizzas just to try something new, and I have never been remotely disappointed. Lately, I sit up at the bar and watch it all happen. The attention to detail is awesome to watch, and everything gets one last eye by Nick to make 100% sure it is just right. Wine selection by the glass is limited on the menu, however it is always very nice. They also have a nice range of wines you can purchase when you enter the restaurant and bring to your table. I highly recommend this place from someone who has gone back several times. A true standout in Lodi.

fell in line 30 min before opening on a saturday evening and totally worth it! everything was outstanding, and i’ll be. dreaming about their soft serve. my only regret was not being able to eat in so that we could try the house specials. i guess that just means we need to come back!

My boyfriend and I tried this place for the first time on my birthday. The pizza was good but not great. I'm typically a fan of foods on the saltier side, but it was overpowering, and I could hardly taste anything else. We did, however, LOVE the roasted potatoes we ordered as an appetizer. Would definitely recommend those! The servers were ok. Friendly enough but they didn't leave a lasting impression on us. Given the price point, we were a bit underwhelmed and expected more.

Guantonios is a true Italian treasure worth the drive. Everything that come out of that oven is absolutely delicious. This trip, we got the wings, sweet peppers, and classic pizza. Some of the best food we’ve ever had the pleasure of trying. Add an excellent selection of natural wines on top of that? You have customers for life.

The restaurant is open 4 days a week, Wednesday through to Saturday, usually from 5pm. Staff service is fantastic. I ordered their BLT pizza and smoked hot wings, which delighted the taste buds. The pizza, in my view, is worth it to the last dollar!!! The whole thing is gourmet tasty from the toppings to the crust. Find yourself in Lodi, CA, do make this top among your dining experience. Word of caution, it gets pretty packed on the days it's open!!

Guantonios IS Lodi's premier dining experience.

It isn't just that the food is consistently excellent, with an ever evolving menu that highlights seasonal, local produce. Nor is it just the ever-present, attentive service that accompanies your experience, or the unassuming appearance of the restaurant and the general atmosphere therein.

It is the ceaseless execution of all those things in tandem on a daily basis which nudges this restaurant out beyond the pack. But there is something even further which makes Guantonios a truly rare and transcendent gem: it is secretly fine dining, with all the performative stuffiness and pretense stripped away. There are No Reservations (literally), they are only open 4 days a week, and the cozy space tucked on the edge of the surrounding neighborhoods has limited seating, but the wait is worth it.

Pizza is seldom thought of as fine dining, but it would be hard to call this pizza anything else. A beautiful thin crust with good stretch and chew, perfect for folding if you so please, is given a nice contrast by the occasional charred spots on the bottom. The bitterness imbued by the wood fired brick oven is a core part of the kaleidoscope of flavors the pizza here has.

In terms of seasonality, the recent spate of stone fruit dishes has really put a bow on the blissful essence of summer for myself. The Stone Fruit Caesar was a perfectly unexpected marriage of tart and tangy dressing with subtly sweet chunks of fruit. This was (of course) followed by the Mortadella and Nectarine pizza. In truth, I'm a sucker for pistachios, but I do believe this pizza has put to rest the argument over fruit as a topping: it belongs.

There are also numerous menu staples which are hard to break away from once you've had them, but I would urge you to try something seasonal when you can; nothing here seems to ever miss the mark.

Ultimately, Guantonios isn't trying to compete with anything or anyone else, and it isn't concerned with being anything but itself, and that IS really where the magic... is. This understated genuineness that bleeds through everything is truly a breath of fresh air. (6+/5)

Vegetarian options: There are many non-meat pizzas and appetizers.
