What a great find this winery was! I visited the Lodi Wine & Visitor Center, and told them I was interested in old vine Zinfandels. When I told them I was looking for some old vines to get photos of, they recommended that I visit Lucas Winery, and they were so right! A beautiful location, lovely staff, and Zin Star Vines established in 1933.
I also loved the wall of different soils, and they had a great assortment to taste. Wineries like this are what will bring me back asap - great wines, great hospitality with lots to see and do.
Went for a friend’s birthday on a Friday afternoon and the vineyard was gorgeous. They are a boutique winery who will take you out to see the old vines and barrel room throughout your tasting and tell you about their winemaking process which was a fun experience.
Glo and another gentleman were friendly & knowledgeable! Definitely recommend.
Also, Im not a Chardonnay fan but their Chardonnay was divine! Definitely worth a try :)
A Must-Visit in Lodi!
My recent visit to Lucas Winery in Lodi was a truly exceptional experience! This multigenerational, family-owned boutique winery and tasting room is everything you look for: welcoming, friendly, and dedicated to crafting high-quality, memorable wines.
The history here is incredible. They grow grapes from old-growth vines planted as far back as the 1920s, and you can taste the quality and tradition in every glass. Their commitment to excellence is clear, especially since all their grapes are still hand-picked. We loved seeing the ZinStar vineyard sign, established in 1933!
A big shout-out to Noah, who made our visit even better with his knowledge and hospitality.
If you go, I highly recommend trying their Cinsault—it was a standout! If you're looking for a special winery experience in Lodi, Lucas Winery is a must-stop.
If you’re looking for a winery where the wine’s amazing and the staff makes you feel right at home, this is the spot. We’d heard good things, but it totally exceeded our expectations. Our wine host, Fátima, was awesome!
super knowledgeable and passionate about what she does. We’ll definitely be back and telling all our friends to stop by!
The tasting room host greeted me with coldness, not curiosity. Hospitality is the soul of a winery—and here, it was absent. I raise my glass to better days and kinder hosts I left to Jeremy Wine Co.
I now understand why they have a 5 star rating. Their wines are so different from the others in this area. They have made their Zinfandel a super star wine. The service is first rate and the atmosphere is delightful. Cheers 🥂
Excellent Zinfandel as expected, including a caramelized, with notes of dried berries, late harvest that resembles Port. This time, they also had a clean, floral, beautiful (one fermentation only, in new French casks if I'm not mistaken) Chardonnay from 2018. Remarkable. Tasting was guided by Marie-Lou, a wonderful person. They have a cute patio in the shade facing the vines, perfect to sip a glass.
An amazing experience! Some of the best service I have ever experienced from all staff members. Margie was so attentive and sweet and knowledgeable on all their products! Became members for the winery after such an amazing experience, can't wait to return!
Lovely winery in Lodi. Tasting is guided tour with 5 tastings that lasts about an hour. You start in the tasting room, then go outside to see the vineyard, then head to the barrel room, and finish in the tasting room. Great place to take people and learn about the history of wine in Lodi as this was one of the first wineries in the area and is still family-owned. Primarly Zinfandel-focused wines - tasting currently includes a chardonnary, a zinfandel rosé, two zinfandels, and a late harvest dessert zin. You get a glass to take home with you & they were willing to do a split tasting (one glass to be shared with two people).
One of the best winery experiences I have ever had! We did a wine tasting and tasted all their wines. They also gave us a little tour with our tastings. It was a very personable and individualized tasting... and you can sense and taste that in their wines as well. Loved the experience, wines and our tasting specialist, Jane.

This is a beautiful property! Mary Lou is a gracious hostess.
Absolutely love this winery! I always make sure I swing by this specific spot when I’m in the area. Nothing but good experiences, polite and nice staff and great wine!
Highly recommend!
We had the pleasure of getting helped by Mary Lu!
Brought our friends in to enjoy wine ... and we ended up enjoying our afternoon with David the owner enjoying wine with us... best winery in lodi
OMG! Wonderful day with my friend! Wonderful place! So friendly team ! Jane, thank you !
Excellent experience. Very friendly staff. Lucas is a small scale winery with roots to the very foundation of wine in the Lodi region. Excellent Zinfandel from a real "old vine" vineyard right outside the back door of the tasting room. Highly recommended.
