I've been here previously and had a fairly good experience. Visited to get lunch today and planned on sitting down to eat. Immediately upon walking in, it smelled like cigarettes, to the point it seemed like someone had just been smoking inside. I mentioned the smell to my husband, and he agreed it was too strong. Another customer had walked in shortly after us and noticed it as well and immediately left. Upon mentioning to the waitress how potent the smell was, she simply apologized and walked back into the kitchen. It seemed as if she walked back there to tell whomever was in the back about the complaint and then started laughing as if it wasn't that big of a deal to them. We decided to order to go and eat at home. The food was good, but the smell was too overwhelming to enjoy a sit-down experience.

My family has been going to Matsuyama for many years!!! We are always greeted and seated quickly. The service is great and the food is always fresh!! Also they don't mind at all if you want to add or subtract ingredients from your roll!!

By far the very best sushi, drinks, service etc in all of seattle! Will always be the best experience for any sushi lover!

The waitress was really nice and polite. It wasn’t bad service but the rolls were falling apart. The food was alright but I feel like I could go somewhere nicer for only 10$ more. Not bad but personally I don’t think I’ll be going back.

Great sushi place, food tastes great. Lots of things on the menu are good, and generally you can get your food within 220 minutes. A little pricey, but it is a sushi place, so not overly expensive for sushi.

Miso soup was not good this time. Far too much soy sauce? ?

Special Sushi rolls very small for the price of them....very little fish on them ..... !taste is just ok. I picked this place with co workers and now I'm not allowed to pick any places....this is the Applebees of Japan ....if u like Applebee's you will love this place.

Authenticity is hard to find these days, but Matauyama has always stayed true to Japanese Cuisine. Always a favorite date night spot!

This place is great. The sushi is always pretty good. The best part of this place is the gal that works there. I don't think she ever gets a day off and she is still always so nice. She knows our order and always has a smile on her face. Most of the time I go there for her. I know that sounds crazy but it's really hard to find good service nowadays. Food at restaurants is outrageously expensive so having good service makes it worth spending the money. Most places aren't worth it but this one is.

Got the bento box with a California roll and chicken katsu. Pretty good. The soup wad delicious too had lots of well developed flavor ?. Forgot to take some pictures of the bento box. But it was pretty tasty and cheap.

Not impressed at all. The beef teriyaki was so tough I couldn't chew it. My bento box contents were all cold. We were the only customers in the place and the help didn't come out to check on us unless we called them out from the back. Pretty underwellming experience overall.

Haven't gone here for a couple of years because they just got too expensive. I mean, $3.00 for a soda? So decided, for old times sake, to take the wife back there for dinner for here birthday (I'm a cheapskate, I know). What a big disappointment! They were busy...and understaffed. The phone was loud, and kept ringing, unanswered...assuming for take-out orders. A young couple had brought their two screaming kids along (get a babysitter for crying out loud .. no pun instended). We couldn't even hear the background music it was so NOISEY. As expected, order took a while to get, and the teriyaki salmon was a bit overcooked. Biggest issue though, was the absolutely terrible ambiance. It also ticks me off that the main cook parks his mercedes directly in front of the restaurant...(he ALWAYS does...that's it buddy...make the customer look for closer parking spots. Anyways...we're DONE with over-priced, loud restaurant. Much nicer at Shangri La....

The best sushi for a great price in the area. Their bentos are also very yummy and have good portions.
