Always a good time at Babcock. Excellent Pinot Noir. Syrah is great. Tasting areas are wonderful.

Delicious wine, delightful atmosphere, and a charming up and coming Sommelier named Waite. What more could you ask for at a vineyard!

Good wine, unique artsy tasting room and good service.

A local recommended we visit Babcock and we LOVE the place. We had a hard time choosing a favorite wine as it was all so good. And exploring the big tasting room / barn filled with vintage treasures was so much fun. We recommended some friends stop by the following week while they were traveling in the area and they loved it as well. Babcock is a "must taste" when you are in the area!

We are wine club members. Had a great day while having a picnic and drinking Babcock Chardonnay today.

We loved the wine and the atmosphere but the service was terrible. We were instructed that after each tasting, we would have to return to the front desk for our next pour. Never had that happen before? No water was provided. We asked about food and were told that we should go pick out what we want from the refrigerator and bring it back to her and then she would give us plates, etc. gave no information about the wines really- just the names? In between pours, I had to walk around and find her because she wasn’t even at her station. I regret tipping her. I did everything myself.

Wow met a young man on the street while looking for a wine tasting experience// just so happens to be owner of Babcock wineries. It turns out we were only about 20 minutes from his winery. After some discussion, we headed over to Babcock wineries. We had a very enjoyable experience, tasting the wines that he Recommended and left with a full case of a mixture of red and whites. The main thing is my wife was very happy with a personal service that We received at the tasting. I believe Brian was the owner and we want to thank him very much

I am not the pretentious type when it comes to wine, but…okay okay I’m writing a google review about a winery so yes I am just a little bit vain. So i’ll make this as little about me as I can.

Joey was working the tasting room counter at Babcock winery when my friends and I came to do a wine tasting. We were stunned by his enthusiasm and passion for the “transverse mountain ranges that funneled microfog in from the sea to create a porous rock in the soil of the…” okay, see? Wine tasting is like that. There’s a lot you take others’ words for, because it’s kind of hard to understand, and some of it starts to make sense after a few tastes. But one is thing for certain: we were excited to go back into the tasting room every time our glasses ran empty so that our palates could get a joyful introduction of the next vintage from Joey—and then we found out IT WAS JOEY’S FIRST DAY.

I wish I could say this marvelous customer experience was only isolated to our interactions with Joey so that I could maintain credibility and not seem over-complimentary, but in fact we had a similar amazement at the knowledge of the other tenders working the counter. Needless to say, I cannot speak more highly of the staff at Babcock Winery! By all means, go for some great wines (sourced locally from Santa Barbara County), but don’t forget to ask for the grapes’ stories too—the staff is excited to share.

Excellent—5 stars!

What a wasted opportunity. It's a beautiful winery. The vibe is amazing. The wine is decent- loved the syrah. Sadly, Michael did NOTHING to make the experience special or even pleasant. He didn't welcome us, we had to ask how the tasting worked. He didn't have help and that may have stressed him, but he was curt with answers, not helpful at all. We wanted to buy a hard cheddar and becaaue they don't have a license to serve food they will provide the cutlery to you. Fine, but they only had butter knives. Really? Not a cutting board and knife set they could promote. They lost that sale. I didn't feel badly not tipping.
Hopefully, he learns his job is not to pour wine, it is to create a special experience for people that drove 2 hours to enjoy an afternoon.

This is a very nice setting. Plenty of room for outside seating. Staff were friendly. What I didn't care for is that you have to buy three bottles to get your tasting fee waived. I didn't care for the reds. Carignan was a little vinegary. Chardonnay was good but too pricey. I hate to say negative things, but I do not agree with many of the other reviewers who gave high praise.

Showed up at 4:30 pm on June 9 with (8) people. We were told we could not sample wines. I’m assuming because they were closing at 5 pm. We were continually told that we would not be served any wine. Granted, this may be the company policy, but we were not told that…just continually “no” from the person behind the counter. Ughhhh. Left the tasting room after 2 minutes after futile attempts to try a wine. A member told us to “please come back…the place is great”. Meh. Doubt we’ll come back.

Bryan makes an amazing number of spectacular wines from a wide range of varietals. You will find something to like here! Plus, the tasting room is a must-see and the staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. We have been club members for years there. It is a world-class experience in Sta. Rita Hills. Go!
