Top quality wines and fun venue! We tasted the wines and shared stories that made us laugh and cry. Do yourself a favor and visit!
Wonderful experience
Outdoor space was so relaxing and pleasant. Loved wandering around in the herb garden with the kitty cat.
Had a great time!
Good wine! Will come again
Fantastic wine making experience, bringing lessons from around the world to Lompoc
Each and every visit to Montemar has left me feeling more whole. Sitting around the outdoor firepit over a bottle of GSM for the first time, I witnessed the sun setting over the backdrop of a sandy, loungechair-bedecked beach setting. Since then, traipsing through the passionfruit vines of the 'ghetto organic' gardens has transported me from the pavement of Chestnut Court to a sylvan shangri-la. I could say that Montemar has ostensibly secured the best outdoor area in Lompoc's wine ghetto; but I'd rather emphasize that the people make the place (and the grapes). When Kyle and Layne took on the challenge of becoming winemakers, they progressed faster than a BAe 146 quadjet. We've enjoyed everything from their rose of grenache to their tierra alta tempranillo; all go down with nary a care nor a regret. Seeing the entire family, as they help customers and upkeep the greenery and scenery of the tasting space, is especially electrifying. And they most certainly do manage to electrify everything with the power of Jerry Garcia's high-soaring solos by treating visitors like family and keeping their door open for extra laughter in the after-hours.The thrilling rise of new vines and vineyard-designated wines will keep us maneuvering towards Montemar. They make the attributes of different varietals build to the crescendo of a Grateful Dead classic. If you're looking to be swept off your feet, stop in and ask for the pet nat sparkling wine. The only problem will be figuring out how to nail the landing when you return from seventh heaven.
The dishes are spectacular. A 5 star restaurant. Their Chef "Tesoro" has a wonderful hand to delight your palate. Try it and you will be fascinated!
