Both the Domaine de la Cote and Sandhi labels offer layers of flavor within each bottle. Highlights ranged from the Memorious Pinot Noir, Anika Syrah, and Bent Rock Chardonnay. Each was wrapped in an enveloping bouquet that gave way to turning, circling, tingling sensations on the tongue. You won't be disappointed with any of the wines that you encounter on the flight. One of the main reasons for this is that each tasting will be curated to your specific tastes. The staff here rises to seven-star levels in terms of hospitality. We have had the pleasure of being hosted by both Jonathan and Adam, with each visit encapsulated in a completely exceptional yet distinctive experience. These wine fiends know the land, the process, and the products down to the fine print at the bottom of the Blanc de Noirs label. Recently, while attending the annual weekend Wine and Fire Event in the Santa Rita Hills, my wife and I made a tasting appointment at Sandhi Wines, located in Lompoc’s Wine Ghetto. Sandhi Wines are produced by the same team that makes the illustrious Domaine de la Cote wines in the Santa Rita Hills. You can taste the kinship in Sandhi’s wines. They are well worth a visit.

Adam was a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide, and enhanced the tour with fun anecdotes and his personal history in the industry. Our recent tasting at Sandhi/DDLC with Adam was one of the highlights of our wine tasting trip to the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. For our group, the most memorable part was getting out into the vineyards firsthand. I love that you can drive out to the vineyards in less than 10 minutes to see where the magic happens. I’m not sure if this is a typical part of a tasting experience at Sandhi, but for us it truly differentiated this tasting from others we had during our trip. Such a cool experience to drive out and have the valley open up below you as you crest a hill. The wines are great (and included a Domaine de la Cote pour), and I loved how Adam curated the tasting to match our preferred tasting experience. If you are heading up to the Sta. Rita Hills area, you should definitely include a trip to Sandhi and the other wineries in the Lompoc area as they are well worth a visit!

Part of the magic is getting off the beaten path - the tasting room in Lompoc feels unexpected and special compared to the more densely populated tasting corridors. From the moment you walk in, you’re met with warmth and hospitality.
We opted for the vineyard and cellar tour, and our host, Adam, was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. (I’ve done the tasting room experience as well, also fantastic!! but visiting the vineyard is a true wine nerd’s dream.)
The wines, of course, are excellent, but what really stood out was the intimate, thoughtful conversation that came with the tasting. It’s a beautiful, unique experience that reminded me of visits to cellars in France. Highly recommended.

Domaine de la Côte has a multi-year wait list...joining Sandhi is a much easier backdoor approach with immediate access to DdlC single vineyards! Sandhi's Pinots are cut from the same mold and just as wonderful. Romance & possibly others are from the same vineyards!
Sandhi & DdlC are unique to CA Pinots. Tasted many, including those fr SRH. Sandhi & DdlC are savory, herbaceous w minerality from the diatomaceous terroir. Haven't had Bourgognes with this flavor profile though Jonathan mentioned Domaine Dujac is similar.
Truly an amazing experience that will expand your Pinot knowledge and appreciation. Don't forget to try the Sandhi Syrah!
