The recent visit to Tyler Winery's Mae Estate was a truly wonderful experience. The host was friendly and knowledgeable. This was a reserved tasting for my wife and me. It was relaxing, informative, and thoroughly enjoyable. A chance to taste (in my humble opinion given my poorly refined palate) some of the finest pinot noir and chardonnay wines in the Santa Rita Hills AVA. Again, in my humble opinion, this is one of the finest wine makers making some of the finest wines grown in thee premier growing area in the world. A must visit if your in the area. I booked Tyler as a birthday experience for my mothers 70th birthday. The property grounds were absolutely stunning, the wine was delicious, and it was a very intimate setting (reservation only and we were the only group).
I am docking 1 star as I hoped booking such an intimate wine tasting experience would come with some privacy for my group. Unfortunately our host Mellonie pulled up a seat and sat with us during the entire tasting from the first pour to the moment we paid. She was a lovely host with vast knowledge of the wine making process, valley area and winemakers which we greatly appreciated, but i wish she gave us time to have a personal moment between pours to celebrate such a special birthday - we didn't know how to quite ask her to give us some space without sounding rude. I walked away feeling somewhat exhausted as she talked our ear off a bit for the full hour+ we were there. Not as relaxing as we hoped for.
Don't let this deter you from visiting though. The wines were great and the location was stunning.

A one-of-kind experience … tasting the unique and fabulous wine collection as you lounge in the dining room overlooking the acre upon acre of vines nestled below the rolling hills and bright blue sky. The venue is so intimate as you are in the original home. Gabe is so inviting and explains the story behind each wine bringing life into every sip. A must stop on the Central Coast. Be sure to book in advance. Cows allowed -but not crowds- at this house!
