OMG! Excellent! You wouldn't think twice just by driving by the location, but walk in and you see the space is very nice and comfortably accommodating. They present some unique dishes that I have never seen or heard of at any other Japanese restaurant. For example: popcorn lobster or seaweed salad topped with a bit of crab meat. If you are looking for adult libations, they have beer, wine and sake. Staff is very professional and friendly with just the right amount of attentiveness.

A little late to post this since I’ve been so busy but me and my wife went here in march and we had a great experience! First off the staff gave us a warm welcome and the waitress offer us to take our seats. She followed up with our drinks and gave us time to take our orders. As we were patiently awaiting our food, we got a big surprise of an order! We enjoyed our food, we ordered enough to eat there as well as to take some home for later, lol. I recommend this spot for any sushi foodies out there. Take your family and friends!

Had the Rainbow and the Sunset Rolls with a bento box and fried shrimp appetizer. The food was delicious and made quickly. I would recommend it 4.5 out of 5.

Sugoi sushi is by far the best location for Japanese food in the Merced area. I've tried sushi at a 5 star restuarant in San Jose, and Sugoi is so indistinguishable to the sushi from San Jose's best sushi restaurant. Anytime someone asks me for a place to go eat, I always highly recommend them to go to Sugoi. I wish I could rate higher than 5 stars for this restaurant. Rich tastes, variety in the menu, and excellent overall. The atmosphere inside is quite eye catching, so much can be said about the food, ambience, and customer service. Props to the chefs on making the best food in the Merced area.
Vegetarian options: There's a large variety in vegetarian and non vegetarian options. All the food is very healthy, and very fulfilling to eat.
Really disappointed we always come and get the chicken teriyaki but this time the chicken was pale and flavorless when we called cause there was basically no sauce they said they charge we want “extra “
