El Slavadoreño Pupuseria had the worst and most disgusting food I have ever tasted in my life. I had the most disgusting chicken that was as dry as jerkey. The texture and taste were vile. They also gave me some salad with no dressing or anything. I asked for salsa just so it would have some flavour. The salsa wasn't good. The bread thing or whatever the Hell it was was also disgusting. I didn't eat anything off my plate. The customer service was also not good and the waitress never checked on me. I think after taking one bite I wanted to leave. I felt so sick after one bite that I thought I was going to vomit. I definetly know I will never eat any food made by anyone from El Salvador. The cuisine is not worthy of human consumption. My thoughts are: Thank goodness I didn't puke while sitting at the table while the music was blasting like at a club. Awful environment and awful customer service and food.

It's super slow I ordered 5 pupusas and they told me in 10 minutes they didn't have people before me and 15 minutes passed and they asked me if I was waiting for an order about 2 minutes later the girl told me that they were coming out I'm still sitting there passing by the crowd and I see who serves other people and I nothing and said I'm sorry what's happening, other orders were placed and I aha and then I listen to the cook eating the pupusas holy heaven now if it were a bigger restaurant and I would do it What's worse is that their pupusas are more than 5 dollars with expensive and slow taxis, but it's super.

We had the plantain empanadas and pupusas, both were absolutely delicious! And the fruta ensalada drink was a very nice treat as well.

The food was phenomenal!
The fried plantains were crispy yet gooey and perfection.
The empanadas were delicious and stuffed with a perfectly spiced medley of beef and vegetables.
My partner enjoyed the bean and cheese pupusas. The bread was nice and fluffy, but the outside was still crispy. The beans and cheese were evenly distributed.
***The beans are cooked in pork lard please make sure to check with your server if you have any dietary or religious restrictions.***
Everything was made-to-order and very fresh! A very authentic Pupuseria in the Monterey area!
Sa7tein!

What a shame that only the name is Salvadoran, why the food is terrible, don't waste your money there

We visited this little place for the first time about a week ago for dinner. My husband had never had a pupusa before and didn't know what I was raving about. It's easy to screw up a pupusa...too little filling, less than quality ingredients, small size, etc. This place does NOT screw up ANY of their food. It's some of the best fare I've had, and I've had a lot. I ordered the pastelitos, the papas locas, and the pupusas (mushroom, spinach, cheese, cheese and bean, pork/bean/cheese, chicken, and jalapeño), and everything was just incredible. The filling was flawless, the pupusas were stuffed full and large, grilled perfectly. My husband took one taste of the curdito and was hooked. We fought wordlessly over the papas locas and they disappeared in 5 minutes. The pastelitos were deep fried heaven stuffed with incredible beef mince and potatoes. My favorite pupusa was the cheese and jalapeño, but I didn't get to taste the revuelta, as my husband ate both of them without breathing. Service was DELIGHTFUL, fast and courteous, and I think the lovely lady was sweetly amused by our enthusiasm. She was a joy. We went back for lunch today and the place was packed with people standing and waiting for a table or takeout. Both times we ordered extra to cart home. I drool whenever I think about this place (409 turnoff, we're almost there!) We're going to be driving from Monterey every week now, but I'd make the trip from San Fran if I had to. TEN STARS!!!

The lady acted like she didn't want to do her job. The food was good and for one of the meals they didnt have an item so we assumed we would get a discount but she told us "we compensated you by adding more of everything else on the meal" but the serving seemed normal not "more".

Some of the best pupusas, perfect size, not too big or small. Pan con pollo was so good. We traveled from San Francisco just to come here. Yes there are plenty of restaurants in San Francisco and I love a few of them but I don't mind coming here once in a while. It's great and the beach is close by.
