Cute location, cozy mountain vibes, absolutely the worst coffee I’ve ever had. And I’ve been here five mornings in a row. This is the only game in town, so if you need a hot cup of coffee, this is your only option. The food is really quite good, the room itself is warm and inviting. But the most important part of any cafe—the coffee—is a curious mix of bland and sour and lukewarm. I can’t tell if it’s the coffee, or the barista, or the machine? I don’t know. But the thing I wish they cared about the most seems to be merely an afterthought to them. But at least a 16oz mocha is only $10. 😳

We were hoping for a sit down restaurant but this was fine. Coffee refill was said to be not as much as first cup but no price given? I like to know what I am going to be paying! A little more selection would be nice. The BLT was very good we wished we could have had the other half though. I know its far away from city & do understand prices etc. just venting.

Great sandwiches!

Very rude. Second time this week we went. First time the food was great. Came back a second time was so bad we had to leave after being treated rudely. Don’t go if you are not local.
Go to Cutthroat Tavern across the street. Better food and service.

Such a cute little place! Even though it's small, it has a decent amount of seating, and there are plugs at pretty much every table. That combined with free Wi-Fi makes it a perfect place for remote workers! I only tried the brewed coffee, which was good, but all of the sandwiches smelled amazing.

Absolutely amazing Cafe, Menu choices are open to selections, self- serve with beverages, seating is limited but close and quaint, some outside seating too . Sandwiches are full portion, no extras like French Fries & pickles. Chips sold, Wonderful morning Berry delight bread, delish! Great Wall art, music, friendly staff.
It's a Must to stop and enjoy the huge smoothies, yum!

What's not to love about this place. It's in Markleeville, a quiet little gem, just a short drive from Reno and Lake Tahoe. The Upcountry Cafe is a favorite for locals and visitors. Delicious fresh bagels from Tahoe Bagel Company. If you are lucky, you may even spot local artist Owen @roodpart or Casey, world touring ballet performance artist @casey.nokomis there. #visitalpinecounty #tourofthecaliforniaalps #deathride2025

Unfortunately I only come through here once a year but it is so yummy. Delicious breakfast bagel!! And swapped out pesto for the mayo this time which took it over the top. Cutest bathroom too :)

All we can say is WOW! The bagel sandwiches my husband and I ordered were some of the best we have ever had! Definitely both filling and tasty. Everyone was incredibly pleasant - customer service A+! We sat in front with our three large dogs and they were extremely accommodating, even a bowl of water for the dogs! Everyone in the town was so friendly. We highly recommend Upcountry Cafe - we will be back for sure!
