I called in an order to go, for pick up. The California roll I ordered was not made with crab - it had shrimp and did not have sesame seeds and the rice was very gummy. Ordered miso soup also( it was hot) and when I picked it up, the lady could not stop telling me to put it in my drink holder in my car, this is not my first time to order miso soup to go. Ordered vegetable dumplings, and they were green you can reference the picture, they did not taste that great and there was hardly any vegetable stuffing in it. The chicken Katsu was the only great thing I don't think this sushi place really knows how to do. Sushi rolls. Honestly they were cut very odd and were gigantic. This might be the only spot to get sushi because it's such a small town and maybe the locals own it but definitely need to find a different place. The next time I visit.

My mom and I came here while visiting Arcata, and were so impressed!!! We had been to a couple sushi places in arcata but this one was way better. Flavors were amazing, service was friendly and fast, and the prices weren’t nearly as high as the mediocre sushi places in arcata. I highly recommend!

We live in Trinidad. This is the closest Sushi restaurant and we are lucky that it is a good one. It is not over priced for sushi. It is in a convenient location to go to lunch to or a very early dinner or have take away. The outside view is not interesting but the atmosphere inside is fine. We eat here often since we love sushi. Sashimi, I do not recommend because the portions are very skimpy. The unagi is very good, I love unagi.

Ordered food on Door Dash. After 2+ hours I finally called and was told that they were too busy to do Door Dash and that I “should have come in to get the food faster”. Horrible customer service and super sub par food. Not my first bad experience with this company either.

With their new 18% equity charge, you’d think the service/food would be better. Waiting 30-45min for food on a dine-in. Told they were out of sauce for the pork gyoza which is the main reason we like it. I recommend Tomo’s or bay front where you get better service and can actually tip your serve for giving higher quality service.

Amazing food, amazing service by, I think, an owner or location manager, and great atmosphere.2 issues, but our anniversary dinner here was great overall. 1, I love fish tanks and wanted to sit near the giant saltwater, but I did notice a distinct fish filter smell where I was near the sump. Probably something that's fixed whenever they have their maintenance come by but if I wasn't a fish keeper, it might have bothered me a lot more. (Great experience with the huge tank otherwise though) And 2, unsurprisingly, the prices. It was worth the price for a special event, but as good as it was there is just no way we can eat here regularly. Wife's sashimi plate was beautiful and almost $40, but she was full and I had a few pieces. Rolls are about $16-19 avg, and luckily I knew the ones I liked already and they did not disappoint, but I just wish it was more affordable. We overheard a conversation and sounds like they're doing what they can and this is just the economic conditions these days so this is unlikely to change, but it's worth knowing what youre in for before you experience sticker shock.I actually so appreciate that tip/gratuity is fixed, even though I've heard drama from others around this. Ideally we would never tip at all like other countries but anything that removes the variables is good in my book, even if I kinda just wish they'd reflect +18% on the menu and not add anything at all. Oh well, you'll scare off the McK crowd if they really knew what it was going to cost, I imagine.Recommended to try if you can afford a $100-200 bill!

A little small but great food and great service. You cant tip on a card but they added 18% dine in and 10% carryout service charge to replace the tip

Did not see hand rolls on menu but they make them. They are the best I have had out here as they are very full of goodies . I am not sure how I feel about thier new system though by adding the 18 percent. I do understand that it does make tips more even. But the waiter I had was good but so busy being the only one working it seemed . So I feel I would have tipped him more along with sushi makers . I added a bit more of a tip just to bump it up at least to 20 percent as they all deserved that .

Though this Spot has always been my fave local sushi, my most recent visit was deeply disappointing. Not only are you required to pay an additional 18% of your bill for an employment equity benefit (mandatory tip), but you are also charged 4% food tax (since when is food taxed?) for a total of 22% in added mandatory fees. I was open to these additional fees because in the past I enjoyed their food. Unfortunately, in additional to these added fees, their portions are probably 30% less than before they added these taxes. Both the rainbow roll and another house roll, though pictured on the menu as 2/3 wrapped in sliced raw fish, were instead topped merely with a very thin 1"x.5" rectangle of fish per slice. So unappealling. So unsatisfying. So disappointing. Two rolls, edamame and tempera veggies = $70... So not worth it. I won't be going back again.

Totally disappointed. Ordered to go and it took an hour and it wasn't all that busy. I thought the staff was anything but friendly, tasted fishy, and very expensive and overpriced. Won't be going back.

Expensive and food not enough to fill a teenager.

Well me and my friends are determined we're done with this place now. What a shame, McKinleyville s best restaurant. But we're not paying the 18% forced tip and 10% forced tip for to go orders. Actually took 20% usually but I don't like having it shut down my throat

Good sushi. Better to eat in than take out. Very tasty!
