Original Clyde's Hot Chicken

The chicken is delicious but I don't see the point of wearing gloves while handling food and money it's unsanitary! The little girl was rude and the food was very expensive one extra sause is $1.09!!

My absolute favorite chicken place and I can't go anywhere else now because they do not compare. The food is always fresh and delicious, the prices aren't cheap but the portions are good. I recommend ordering online because they do make everything fresh and so it takes a while to wait unless you order ahead. The soda machine hasn't been working recently but the seating area and bathrooms are clean.

Updated review as of 6/14/2025 - was 5 stars...now 1. Waited almost 30 minutes and had to get a refund. That is an absurd amount of time for chicken stripe. There was 1 car in the drive thru and no one else in the store when we went. No excuse was given for the excessive amount of time. Sad to see this place go downhill so fast.

First time here, and it was GREAT!!
We got the 2 strip meal (original heat) with the mac and cheese.
Chicken was fresh, juicy, and flavorful.
The real star though was the mac n cheese...sooooo good!
Store was clean and the staff was welcoming.
Will make sure to come back when we are in the area.

This chicken is amazing!! Hot as cluck 4 piece with fries is the go to and the patio seating is great to chill with friends. Great choice for a casual dinner and the prices are reasonable.

Used to come here all the time when this place first opened, had no complaints whatsoever . Now the last couple times I came food quality & service has gone down the drain. The soda machine has been “broken” the last two times within the last 2 months. No napkins or accessible ketchup no more and when you try to ask for some there’s only one person upfront so you have to wait til there done attending the customer. Specialty sauce keeps decreasing in size and when I did ask if I can purchase extra since they only give one small side of sauce for a 4 PIECE combo I paid over $2 for 2 SMALL sauces. Corporate greed upon its finest this place used to be great but greed will not help this place build its customers base, it will only decrease if your going to increase prices and decrease quality service.

Excellent chicken, very well seasoned and juicy! The fries were hot, crispy, and had just that right amount of salt that makes you want to go back in for 5 or 6 more before you remember you've got other things to eat in front of you. I wish the attention to detail by the workers was a bit better: the ice be drink fountain in the dining area had 'Out of Order' signs on them so we had to get drinks from the counter; we ordered 3 drinks with our meal, but only got 2 to start (after asking twice I got my drink). Also, not sure why it took 5 minutes to get those first drinks after we paid... Don't most places get you your drinks right away? Also had to go up and ask for ketchup for our fries. Maybe it's a California thing. I'd still come back and eat here again - I just wouldn't leave the counter so quickly.

Daniel is the most disrespectful sassy employee I have ever encountered…and on top of that…every time I come it take 30 mins for 3 cars in a drive thru…guys if you can’t handle a drive thru please just stick to the dinning room. What a joke.

Visited your location for the first time in a while and went with my husband we had got our food which was good but your staff lacked good customer service and we got up to refill our drink and they turned the soda machines off and didn’t want to let us refill our drinks I’m extremely disappointed with the services provided by your staff

First time trying Clydes. I've passed by many times & finally decided to order something to go. First mistake was stopping here while on the way to a game. Come here when you have time to spare. I assumed food is freshly made but I didn't anticipate my order to take twenty minutes. a group of four guys were the only ones in the building besides myself and no one in drive thru. I ordered the hot cauli, cauliflower southern slaw, dill pickles, brioche bun. Also note they could potentially run of out cauli, I got the last one. Presentation was on point, I got the 1930 heat level. Was spicy good I will go up a level next time. Could definitely taste the seasoning & jus a a lil bit too salty but overall delicious. Next time I will order a meal to try the fries & shake instead of a single sandwich.

Tried two different styles of chicken, neither were to my taste and the rest are too spicy. Food quality is good, friendly staff and clean restaurant, simply the chicken wasn't the flavor I was hoping for

I love Clyde's. The Montclair location is the absolute WORST. However, the Placentia location is the ABSOLUTE BEST. They have the best customer service. If you love Clyde's as much as I do, go to the Placentia location; you won't be disappointed.

Been coming here for years and love it so much! But currently we Tried to make an order over the phone but because it’s over $60 they couldn’t take the order told us to order online. Tried online order can’t order the hottest level they have and it wouldn’t take any payment method we input. Went to the store told them the problems we had and placed order there . Order was ready fast as store had no other customers on a Sunday around 7 pm also all outside lights were off but the small open side. Really like this hot chicken place but very confused on having a hard time placing an order…..here’s to hoping order placement gets easier soon!

When I went I saw they had a bunch of pre fried chicken just sitting above the oil!! Not fresh at all
