Been going here off and on for years. Super friendly staff. Standard Mexican faire. Lately I've been having a large bowl of Albondigas. Perfect for lunch in and of itself.

Update - this review was for an experience at the Chino location, not Montclair. I apologize for any confusion between the two locations. I stand by the review because this is exactly what happened, just not in Montclair.

Well my friend and I went to try this place for a late lunch last week. Kinda 2:15-3:15. We went at my suggestion because people on Nextdoor app were recommending both the Montclair and Chino locations as a place that still serves homemade tortillas. The tortillas were not the problem. Only my order came with any, not my Friend's. Very expensive for a lunch since we didn't order off the lunch menu in order to try what we wanted. Maybe that was our mistake.So my carnitas plate was fine. But my Chili relleno was obviously microwaved because the ceramic plate was scorching hot and the food was still ice cold inside. My friend got a chicken flauta that was also microwaved with a hot plate and cold inside. And the chicken must've been raw or spoiled because she got food poisoning. Guess what? There's too many other good options to ever go back again. You should get decent food no matter what time you come in.

I had the pleasure of visiting Los Portales Mexican Grill In Montclair during a recent Chamber of Commerce networking event, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome and well taken care of. The service was on point—friendly, attentive, and perfectly timed, even with a large crowd.

As for the food: absolutely delicious. Every dish was full of bold, authentic flavors that showcased the best of Mexican cuisine. Whether it was the fresh guacamole, flavorful tacos, or the perfectly seasoned entrées, everything was clearly made with care and passion.

The atmosphere was warm and inviting—an ideal setting for both networking and enjoying great food. If you're looking for a spot that delivers on both service and flavor, Los Portales - Montclair is definitely worth a visit.

I recently hosted a bridal shower for my daughter at La Terraza room in Los Portales. It was an amazing event, the food, the drinks and the service was beyond my expectations. Itzel assisted me from day one she was so helpful and sweet. All my guest really enjoyed themselves the serving sizes of the food was plenty for everyone. Thank you to itzel, her dad and the entire staff they were super nice and accommodating. I give this place beyond 10 stars.

Food was barely average and price wasn't too bad and the atmosphere was average. Very hard to understand why anyone would recommend them as being a great Mexican food restaurant. This restaurant was recommended to us, but to be honest, I would never recommend this place to anyone... just not worth it.

Do not get burrito take out. NOT WORTH $18. Burrito falling apart first bite. Asada meat was only fat and super salty.

Sadly, I have came here since I was younger, and the service, kindness has completely fell off.
The wait for our food took over 30 mins.
Waitresses took forever to come, check on us, and refill any drinks.
We ordered a fish taco that came 10 mins after our food, and did not want to eat it due to the smell (smelled rotten) and how long after it came. I asked for it to be taken off considering we were about to leave.
Waitress said no. Asked for manager, and the manager Ricardo, basically said “I shouldn’t have ordered it if I was not going to eat it”
Had the food came on time, and not when we were leaving, or if it did not smell bad we would’ve.

Just finished my fish tacos and the food and service was a 10+ for me

We waited 20 minutes for the server Lexi to return to check on us after my family got their food and not once did this server check to see if anything was needed during the meal. Poor service. Food was not good. Won’t be coming back
