The first time I was at this location, I usually used to go to the one in Bridgeport before they shut down. The ono chai never lets me down. It's hands down the best chai I've had. No matter if you get it dirty or not, it's always got that consistent flavor. Service is always good, nothing great, but the drink selection makes up for it!

Nice cozy little place in the newhall area. Their coffee tasted good, they ran out of most pastries as went few mins before closing.

This cafe is among a series of suites. You'll likely miss it while driving and even more so when walking right by it. The people working here are so inviting. I appreciate that positively charged vibe! We visited this joint a couple years ago on our way passing through and picked up a Nutty Hawaiian. It was very smooth and the espresso was clean. Upon our return, I gave their seasonal drink, the Shamrock Latte a try. It was exquisite and flavorful. My wife got their Decaf Vanilla Iced Latte and she liked it. We are now depending on this spot whenever we come through again!

For me this place just wasn't it. I stopped by after taking a local yoga class and ordered my usual coffee order: a quad shot oat milk latte, half sweetened with vanilla. Honestly I was surprised by how cheap it was (in today's economy) and unfortunately I'm glad I didn't have to pay more. It had to be the lightest and blandest QUAD latte I've ever had. The oat milk was very creamy and good, wasn't too sweet (which I love) but it was just that... lightly sweetened oat milk. I didn't see or taste a lick of the espresso.

We've tried Honu a handful of times since we moved to the SCV a few years ago. We're not anti-the big chain coffee places, but happy to support a local spot if the product is good.Re the good, the donuts are fantastic. They definiitely live up to the claim of at least among the best donut over. Nothing crazy like you might find at Voodoo, just super good donuts on a variety of basic flavors. They put to shame any other nearby chain donut. The coffee, however, has been hit or miss for us. The first time we ordered the Nutty Hawaiian it was great, strong coffee presence with the Hawaiian flavors creating a unique, bold and tasty coffee experience. The second time we ordered it, the coffee felt absent and it tasted like warmed milk and sugar. Bummer! Especially after loving it so much the first time. Okay, maybe they had an off day...we waited a while, came back several months later to cap off a Farmer's Market experience and ordered it again. Donut -- on point, but same disappointing Nutty Hawaiian. My wife even specified to make sure the coffee presence was strong in the drink, which was responded to with sort of a non-committal "okay." Same result...warmed milk and sugar, no coffee flavor, and not really any discernable elements of the Nutty Hawaiian flavors of one of their "signature drinks". So now I'm thinking that's the norm and not the amazing one we first had.A coffee-forward coffee shop should have excellent coffee. Unfortunately, that hasn't been our experience. We'd definitely come back for more donuts, though.

I don't know.....being brutally honest it's in the same tier as Starbucks but, like, more expensive. The Tsunami: didn't get "swept away" by this drink unless the menu description actually implies that I should be swept away specifically by the overwhelming milk taste. Very minimal coffee flavor. Coconut taste is disappointingly super subtle. Nitro cold brew: didn't experience much of the creamy *nitro*-ness but nonetheless an okay-ish smooth cold brew. I also tried a chicken empanada and a tomato basil empanada. Filling of the chicken empanada is curry-based just as an FYI; tasty but curry sauce could've been a tad thicker. Soggy tomato basil empanada interior due to the chunks of plump tomato; perhaps using something else like thickened marinara sauce would've been the better play. On the bright side, the empanada shells are nicely flaky. Friendly staff. Hmmmm overall I'd say not a must-try, but if you're already planning to hang out in Newhall it wouldn't be a bad decision to check this cafe out if you're in need of a caffeine pick-me-up.

I've wanted to like Honu for 10 years but it's consistently really weak. I get unsweetened lattes or cold brew and it always tastes watered down even with an extra shot which confuses me. Maybe they specialize in flavored drinks, but i would not choose to go here if you want a rich tasting coffee. Trophy and Bodhi are a much safer bet imo

Friendly service, good coffee and hot chocolate. The parking is iffy in the lot. Depends on when you come in. But street parking may be adequate. The upstairs area for seating is not well lit. Would do good with sunlight emulating light bulbs. Otherwise excellent cafe!!

Made a quick stop with my mom here, I love trying local coffee places. Since it was my first time here I got two of their signature drinks. The tsunami ( believe that was the name ) and I can't remember their other signature drink. For my taste it was a bit too watery and not enough caffeine. The flavor was a 10/10 but I wish it was a bit more stronger and less watery. I will definitely try them again and maybe i can customize it to my liking.

I finally found and tried out Honu Coffee after putting it off for a while due to my busy work schedule and the lengthy distance from my workplace. However, since it is a slow Friday before the Lunar New Year, I decided to give it a try today! Honu Coffee is in a quaint area of Newhall in Santa Clarita. To make things easier, it's located in a yellow-colored building, so you can't really miss it. Parking is towards the back of the yellow-colored building, which can be a bit difficult to find because there are many other businesses around. I ordered an iced latte with whole milk, and I was quite surprised with how light colored the coffee turned out to be. It looked like it would taste very sweet on the outside because of the color, but once I took a sip, it was a refreshingly bittersweet taste. Just the way I like it. I hope I can make the time to trek out to Honu Coffee and give it another go!
