The Beachcomber at Crystal Cove

Since you asked, here goes. We haven't been here for a couple years, and it has now become a real racket. It used to be that your parking ticket was validated when you spent at least $15 at the restaurant, and the two minute bus ride from the parking lot to the restaurant was free. Now you're charged $5/hour to park, plus a service charge plus tax. We chose to take the 5 minute walk to the restaurant, but the bus ride is now $2 per person per way, so an additional $8 if you care to ride. What a turnoff! We ordered an artichoke as an appetizer, which is what we always order at any restaurant which offers that, and it was the worst we have ever been served! Under steamed/grilled and tasteless. Real tough. We sent it back after a couple bites. We've never done that before. I did give an additional star from one to two because the chicken was very good. Sea bass was just okay. Overall, sadly a pretty disappointing night. It will be a long time before we ever visit this place again.

Another beautiful day on the beach at the Beachcomber! Request seating on the boardwalk and dine down the walk from the restaurant under umbrellas and steps from the beach! Menu is a bit pricey but you are paying for the view as well. Food is of excellent quality with ample portions. Fried Chicken Sandwich was delicious with a large chicken breast that was perfectly cooked and topped with a crunchy coleslaw and delicious sauce. My friend had a Spaghetti Squash dish presented as a pasta dish with wonderful tomato sauce and lots of interesting toppings (pomegranate seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc). It's a little extra effort to get there as you need to park at the state park lot and take a shuttle to within walking distance of the beach and the restaurant, but it is well worth the effort! You will feel like you have stepped back in time as you approach the charming old Crystal Cove cottages that surround this gem of a beach.

The hostesses were unfriendly and rude when we arrived. Our server was slow to greet us, but once they did, the service improved and became much quicker. The food came out fast and was delicious. Management was actively walking around the restaurant checking in with guests to make sure everyone was satisfied.

Everyone from the hostess to the server to the manager were great! Food and drinks were perfect! Best frittata I've ever had!

This a perfect destination to dine at the beach amongst the historic homes at Crystal Cove! Food, service and ambiance was excellent! The weather was outstanding as well! A special place indeed!

This place is a must. Every meal I have ever had here has been outstanding and today topped them all. The lobster sandwich was over the top delicious from the first bite to the last!! So well done. Can’t wait to go back.

Went here with friends and it was early in the morning and after the rain. Right on the beach so great view and location. You have to park the other side of the street and there is a mini bus taking you over to the lodge/motel but you have to walk down to it, then pass the lodges, into the sand/water in order to get to the restaurant. The place is small but with great vibe and definitely great view of the ocean. Service is excellent and very friendly. We ordered bunch of foods. They all tasty but nothing special. Prices wise, expensive but you have to remember that you’re paying for the location so. Worth it? Sure once in awhile for sure. It is a great place to hangout, chill with friends or family and walk along the beach afterward or prior. Overall, very cool place with good foods and great services plus fantastic view.

The Beachcomber Cafe was a delightful surprise! The grilled artichokes were exceptional, and the grilled shrimp tacos were equally delicious. The service was outstanding, and the location was fantastic. It was lovely to enjoy lunch while watching the waves crash. We will definitely be back!

Ive been going to this place for awhile now have never been disappointed until last night I ordered the Mahi and came with rice the Mahi was good the rice was unbearable to eat like it was leftover from freezer for days im so disappointed because I love this place and upset I have to post this
