The Beachcomber at Crystal Cove

A beautiful morning at Crystal Cove...7AM reservation at a table with great views of the ocean and our smiling server, Oscar, welcoming us with strong hot coffees & cream. Perfect. I enjoyed a typical breakfast that was perfectly prepared to my order: poached eggs, extra crispy potatoes & bacon with rye toast and blackberry jam. My lovely partner was overwhelmed by the tasty gigantic "Savory Spinach & Mushroom Crepe". It would easily feed two people. Oscar was very attentive and often stopped by with more hot coffee. Delightful.

Lovely environment. The view by the beach, the lovely thoughtful staff, and the did is excellent every time I visit.

Customer service was great. The view of the beach and water is amazing. The food however was extremely heavy. All I could taste was the butter and oil they use so a bit disappointed in that.

Food was alright...barely, service/waitstaff not very friendly, atmosphere was the best part of the experience as it's on the beach. There are no restrooms inside.

Parking: There are no restrooms inside. You have to pay to get into a park to park your car and then pay again to take a shuttle to the restaurant and back again.

Do not order the Crab Pasta or Seared Tuna. I actually had to search for the crab under the noodles. The seared tuna portion was also way too small. The ceviche was really good. Food was too expensive for such small seafood portions on those two. I would not recommend.

We ordered ciabatta bread starter, clam chowder, and fish & chips. The bread was a hit. The clam chowder was not hot and could use more clams. The fish was good but the french fries were room temp and oily. Our server, a polite young lady, was fantastic.

Great location right on the beach, wonderful staff and the food was excellent. We had five different items from their lunch menu all of which were excellent. My favorite was their Ahi Poke Bowl. Our server Alexis took great care of everyone at our table. Cocktails were great also. Thanks for a great afternoon and we will see you soon.

What's there not to like. The view is amazing and you are right on the beach, early 20th century area, and food is delicious.
Had the Korean Steak Skewers and Kung Pao Calamari. Both delicious. The calamari is crispy batter outside soft inside, with dried puffy rice noodles, cashews, and Kung Pao sauce. Korean steak skewers were closer to Japanese style. You don't need the peanut sauce as for me it overwhelms. The steak skewers are so good you could get another plate. Wow! Also they mix edamame with cold black beans as an underlying part of the dish. It works! We had hazy ipa's from San Diego local.
