I typically do not write reviews, but felt a sense of duty to share our experience.
The proprietor and general service when calling for takeout was great. On time, and short wait.
That said, the food was not great. I wouldn’t say it’s terrible—but it definitely did not taste authentic in any way. Extremely sweet Chicken Tikka Masala and Malai Kofta. Bordering on desert sweet. As I’m writing this I feel a sugar crash, which you shouldn’t feel after eating curry! The chicken was very tough and chewy.
The Lamb Biranyi was objectively not that bad—but it did not taste authentic to us in any way. They used short grain rice and it had little texture. The lamb was not tender. The naan was a bit stale, and the mango lassi was the sweetest lassi I’ve ever had! More of a sweet shake, than yogurt. It was barely tart, and the cup full of ice, so quite watered down.
The samosas were quite good in our opinion, which was the saving grace.
Perhaps it was an “off” day, but in our case, there are way too many other options nearby (including a very authentic spot just a bit further north) to merit ever rolling the dice again.
Kind of a bummer, since it’s so close to us!

We have had takeout almost weekly for years. The most flavorful Indian food I’ve had in LA bar none. The team is friendly and welcoming - my kids love coming with me to say hi. Particular love for the korma, tikka masala, samosas and every variety of naan. This is a true gem of a restaurant with fabulous food and a big heart.

An amazing experience overall.
Went here for the first time today- we actually had a spot we’d go to regularly but we’re thinking of making this our new spot :-)
We ordered chicken tikka masala, lamb curry, vegetable biryani and 2 mango lassi’s; all of it was so good we cant even breathe right now. The lamb curry was so flavorful and hearty- it paired so well with the biryani. The tikka masala was good too but that lamb curry has us so full!
The staff are also so kind and welcoming! If you’re in the area its worth stopping by. You definitely wont leave hungry!

Royal Curry Cafe is a hidden Gem! I went there with my family the hospitality of the family who runs the restaurant is very welcoming. We ask for all our dishes to be spicy and they made it all very delicious We look forward to going there again.

THE best Indian food in Los Angeles!
Great place for Indian food in the valley! Family owned, and they are all so friendly and will definitely take care of you! My favorites include the tandoori chicken and beef curry! Especially with some garlic naan! Highly recommend!

We yesterday dined at Royal Curry and unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. The service was extremely slow, and it took a long time for our food to arrive. When it finally did, the portion sizes were noticeably small. The Paneer Masala was particularly underwhelming. It was mostly gravy with very few paneer pieces, and the gravy itself was overly sweet. The Matar Paneer had the same issue with sweetness.
To top it off, when it came time to pay the bill, it was handwritten on a piece of paper without any receipt number. There were additional charges added to the bill without any explanation of what they were for.
Overall, the combination of slow service, small portions, overly sweet dishes, and unclear billing left me quite dissatisfied.
