Pete's Place Diner in Oakhurst:
Stepping into Pete's Place Diner in Oakhurst feels like coming home. It's got that classic, no-frills diner vibe, and honestly, that's exactly what makes it so great, especially if you've got picky eaters in tow. The menu isn't overwhelming with a million options; it's straightforward and filled with all the comforting staples you'd expect. Think juicy burgers, crispy fries, fluffy pancakes, and hearty sandwiches.
Simple doesn't mean boring when it comes to the food. Everything we ordered was cooked just right. My burger was perfectly grilled, still juicy in the middle, and the toppings were fresh and simple. The fries were golden brown and had that satisfying crunch. Even something as basic as hot dog for my little one was done well – perfectly cook dog between perfectly toasted bread.
It's a relief to find a place where you don't have to navigate pages of exotic dishes to find something a picky eater will actually enjoy. Pete's Place focuses on getting the basics right, and they absolutely nail it. The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the service is friendly and efficient. If you're looking for a dependable spot in Oakhurst with delicious, well-cooked comfort food and a menu that won't intimidate even the pickiest of eaters, Pete's Place Diner is a solid win. We'll definitely be back!

Ordered the Ortega Cheese Burger, and it didn’t disappoint. Super friendly server (Tara Lee) made me feel right at home. She recommended the Zucchini Fries and I’m glad she did. They were amazing! Will definitely stop in again anytime I’m in town.

I loved this place once upon a time. New owner and new menu with higher prices. I dislike when people buy local spots and try to turn tried and true into instant cash cows for it to just go belly up. Another great local spot down the drain...

This is a place for dine-in, but I opted to order through the drive-thru because dine-in was closed earlier than the advertised time.

The burger was large, but unfortunately, both patties were burnt in the two burgers we ordered. While the bun, sauce, and fresh ingredients were tasty, the burnt flavor unfortunately overpowered everything else.

I hope they can improve on the basics or discard any bad batches in the future!
