Fantastic atmosphere, food, service, and the music selections were over the top awesome thanks to the professional staff person’s selections. If you are in the area please go and enjoy!!!
This place is worth every star. I worry because of the pending sale of Elderberry House. Please, Dear God, do not change the cellar. While the restaurant upstairs is a Michelin anachronism -- excellent, expensive, stuffy -- the Cellar is like its laid back cousin recently out of rehab. The menu is small, but the food is simply fantastic. Every dish. Period. Bartender Chris is top notch and whips up the best cocktails in Central California, seriously. He's probably the best bartender I've ever experienced. Affable expertise and grace. If you are coming back through Oakhurst after seeing the giant redwoods of Mariposa Grove in Yosemite National Park, The Cellar is worth the splurge.
One of the top delicious burgers I’ve had! Cocktails were made with perfection. I had an old fashion 👌
Came in close to closing time, and staff was still able to seat and serve us. Service is incredible. Everyone was friendly and welcoming.
Food was delicious. Had oysters, yellowtail ceviche, and split the cheddar burger & fries. Smoked Old Fashioned was potent and tasty.
Cozy woodsy atmosphere. Can't wait to come back for happy hour.
The best service I ever had! I had travelled more than 60 countries having the opportunity to go in so many restaurants, but The Cellar was a natural force in how to treat the customers!
This might be the best cocktails and food I've had in years. If you're in the area and looking for drinks and/or food there is no better option.
The cocktails were amazing, great variety and expertly crafted.
Our apps and burgers were out of this world. Hands down the highlight of our business trip here in Oakhurst.
The service was top notch. Left my card and they ran out to return my card as we were pulling out of parking lot.
While in Oakhurst, my dad and I stopped into The Cellar for a quick drink—and what was meant to be a casual stop quickly turned into a memorable experience thanks to the fantastic bartenders and expertly crafted cocktails.
I went with a classic martini, and let me tell you—it was made exactly as it should be. They rinsed the glass with Dolin vermouth (as any good bartender should) and used Beefeater gin, which isn't my go-to but still acceptable. Simple, classic, perfect. The only adjustment I had to make? Asking for a third olive because, culturally, even numbers are bad luck—and I prefer to take my chances with gin, not superstition.
My dad ordered an Old Fashioned, and I kid you not—he raved about it the entire night. He said it was the best Old Fashioned he’d ever had and reminded me of this at least a dozen times. So, if you’re an Old Fashioned fan, this place clearly knows what they’re doing.
The bartenders were fantastic—super friendly, engaging, and genuinely seemed to enjoy what they do. They even introduced themselves, which was great... except I’m horrible with names, so I’ll just say: shoutout to the awesome bartenders!
At one point, my dad noticed a grandfather clock in the lobby and asked about it—only to stump the entire staff. So, for future reference (or if you ever find yourself at The Cellar wondering the same thing), it’s made by Mora and handmade in Sweden sometime between 1750 and 1850. Consider this your cocktail party fun fact of the day.
The Cellar is a must-visit if you're looking for great drinks, great people, and maybe a bit of history trivia. Would I go back? Absolutely. Would I order another martini with three olives? Without a doubt. Would my dad continue raving about the Old Fashioned? 100%.
And if you go—don’t forget to ask about the clock. Just to keep the tradition alive.
Had a great time after a day in Yosemite. The server was awesome and accommodated us during a busy night.
Michelin star worthy food at midscale prices - an extraordinary find at this contemporary but charming and characterful French style "chateau" on the edges of Oakhurst. Exemplary service and superb wine list too. Highly recommend as the best food to b easily found near Yosemite.
Everything's great except for the quantity of meat served. Way too little ‘real' food (protein) for a 3 course meal at $130! We left hungry. And the wine pairing was 3 glasses of wine for another $70!! Course ended up being $500 with service and tips. Way, way overpriced for way too little food. Mind you, the food was excellent.

We had a lovely time and would recommend The Elderberry House to anyone looking for a special evening. I have dietary restrictions and was worried I wouldn't like the food but it was amazing. I was very impressed. I can't stop thinking about the squash blossoms! Yum!! Our server, Christian was great. He was very friendly, and mindful. One might even say, demure. Thank you for a wonderful evening! It was one we will never forget. See you again soon.
My wife and I have visited Elderberry a couple times. We really enjoy the menu and ambiance. On this particular visit we enjoyed the patio with live music prior to dining indoors. Great fun.
What fine dining used to be. Excellent food, creatively presented, and impeccable but not stuffy service. All in the ambiance of an old European villa. A hidden gem in a small town. We enjoyed wandering the grounds of the small hotel before dinner. While dining here is a dress-up occasion, we did see the occasional (nice) polo shirt and jeans. Pretty pricey, but what restaurant isn't these days?
Great food and service was good but the restaurant was far too cold and we had to wait 80 minutes before the 2nd course of the 5 course tasting menu arrived. I'm sure this was a one off but just unfortunate to happen when we were there as it had potential to be excellent
This was my first time at The Elderberry House. It beyond met my expectations. The flavors that each dish presented were delicious and really complimented each other. My server Christian was fabulous. He knew about each dish in detail and made sure my dietary issues were addressed. We had a nice conversation about local things to do as well. I would recommend the 5 course meal to experience all the flavors the Chef has to offer.
