Once or twice a month my family and I travel 50 miles from Elk Grove to Olivehurst to eat at

Hit the spot! Everything was delicious, especially the fried fish! Thin and crispy. The greens were so flavourful. Oxtails were tender. Can't wait to come back here.

Wow talk about generosity. His portions are massive and flavor is on point. I got the smothered pork chops and the gravy is delicious. I love this place.

Definitely enjoyed the atmosphere and the service more than the food. The cook was very nice and working hard. The cashier was a very sweet girl, and she was checking in on everyone. There wasnt too many people dining in. The food just was not satisfying.

The corn bread and the can soda were the best part of the meal!!

The fish, greens, and potatoe salad all had a weird taste or, like something was just missing. Mac and cheese tasted like it was just warmed up and had been sitting out for a while. The yam was not sweet at all. The quantity was good but the quality of the food was off.

For someone who doesn't know southern food, this is good but very disappointing for someone who really knows soul food.

The food was great and definitely a refreshing change in pace. We went for a birthday. All of the food was wonderful, my only complaint is that it was incredibly hot. The staff was great, even the cook (maybe owner?) came to check on us. We will be back again. Hopefully a less hot day!

The owner was genuinely a nice guy; some of the best Country Fried Steak I’ve ever had. Will definitely come back if I am in the area

There is a LARGE sign that says, "Best BBQ in Town" outside on the building. I (and another customer) go inside and ask for BBQ, and they say no BBQ. The other customer asks, "When do you have BBQ?" and the cashier replies, "On Saturday and Sunday." We look at each other like we are lost -- it's Saturday.

Okay. So, I order 2 meals and ask about corn bread. I'm told it comes with the meal, so I don't order extra. I pay for my order and then ask if they have dessert. She says peach cobbler, so I ask for an order. She says, "It's on the house." No. No. I'll pay for that, but thank you. I have left a 20% tip and I think she was being kind.

I get my orders home and no corn bread. I call back to ask if I can come and get it -- I live 20 minutes away -- and she says, she doesn't understand what I want and won't put anyone else on the phone. This is 45 minutes after I just left.

The country steak was tough, the yams were salty, the green beans and peaches were from a can.

Skip it. Spend your money somewhere worth it.
