I was just there at 3:19 pm. I had the most unpleasant experience. I was getting ready to pay for my pastry to a nice Japanese lady behind the register ; when a Caucasian women started to scold her for not paying attention to another customer. I felt so uncomfortable and upset at the lack of manners of this woman towards this nice Japanese lady. Any mature and professional should know better than to redirect or criticize another employee in-front of customers or other employees . That's a basic rule in life. There's no need to humiliate or belittle anyone. As if that wasn't enough, this woman , the owner of the pastry inside Gelson's in Pacific Palisades , decided to tell the next customer after me , how bad the person at the register was. That customer felt , just like I did. The customer smiled at the Japanese employee. As if to soften up the embarrassing and backward moment. I walked out looking for the manager of the store. I wanted to report this woman employee for being so unprofessional to the nice Asian lady. I was told that rude, caucasian woman is the owner of the pastry area , Viktor Benês . I guess they just rent the space inside Gelson's. This woman is so arrogant and needs to learn how to treat human beings. It doesn't matter that she is the owner of that business. In this time and age we respect everyone. Every human being is equal and there are laws against bullying in the workplace. I feel sorry this older lady has to work under such circumstances. The owner must be very insecure that she feels the need to show to others that she is in charge. I haven't even eaten my Napoleon. This experience left me either a bad taste in my mouth.

Ordered a cake for my daughters birthday. They asked what we want on it. I said it's narwhal and under the sea themed and gave them one of our plates to use AS INSPIRATION. They took a low res picture of the plate and printed it onto the cake. I could have done that myself at home. I honestly can not fathom anyone thinking this was appropriate. And to make matters worse the party is tomorrow and they have nobody who can fix it. Honestly so disappointed as we have spent thousands of dollars on Victor benes baked good over decades. They even increased their prices recently, but it seems they simultaneously reduced the quality.

I had one of the worst croissants in my life from here. It was huge and cakey and more like a stale, sweet, bread roll. This was at 8:30 on Sunday morning so it should've seemed fresh. I warmed it up and it was still bad. My only guess is that a regular baker was away and somebody came in and was told to make breakfast rolls shaped like crescents.

Amazing bakery, love every single thing there. Pacific Palisades location is my absolute favorite, but if I am short on time I can count on Century City and the small location inside San Vicente Foods. Yum!

Viktor Benes in Pali has been my go to bakery for Birthday cakes and hamantaschen for many years. I have never been disappointed. The quality is consistent, the cakes are pretty looking, not too sweet and the dough is perfect. I have also very much enjoyed many of their black and white, rugelach, bagels and other breads. Sometimes when at Gelson's I just stop there to watch all their pretty looking pastries and obviously end up buying a few for my family and I. Miam!

We had the best experience with this bakery! We ordered a large custom cake on Wednesday and they had it ready for a Sunday pickup. I spoke with Daniella multiple times and she was absolutely wonderful to work with. I sent inspo photos and she worked off of them the create the most perfect cake! It was also delicious and all of our guests were truly impressed. Thank you so much to the wonderful staff at Viktor Benes, everything was perfect!
I spoke to the manager Daniela. she has excellent customer service skills, so I updated my review. original review: I just had the most condescending woman on the phone "Susan". We had the worst cake of our entire lives last night. We purchased a German chocolate cake for a dinner party. We served it and all of our guests had to spit it out it was so awful. Dry as a bone. She proceeded to grill me on when I served it, how long I had it, who I bought it from. I know how a cake should taste and how to serve it. Susan was condescending and rude. She called me "Sweetheart and Honey" at least 5 times each in a passive aggressive/condescending tone which was infuriating. Learn some customer service skills from Daniela, "Susan". I called to see if I could reserve one pie. My whole family has been loyal customers for decades and I spoke to the RUDEST woman on the phone. I won't put her on blast and say her name but I was super taken back because the people who work in Gelson's Palisades have been there forever and are all usually sooo nice. I have worked in customer service for over 15 years so I know how difficult and draining it can be but you can not speak to your customers like that even if you're in a bad mood. Especially when the customer is being so nice and just asking questions. She said its first come first serve and if it's here it's here, so I asked how many pies would be put out tomorrow and she was sooo annoyed. I almost thought she was gna hang up on me when she said there's a huge line in the most irritated voice but I quickly just said ok bye. I get people are overworked and it's the holidays but a customer is a customer. Whether on the phone or in person. Never speak to them this way and make them feel like crap for calling your business.

We had postponed our birthday party and although there was a mixup with the order, they accommodated the order for a unicorn themed birthday cake. We received many compliments from neighbors and friends about this delicious cake! We ordered chocolate cake with chocolate whipping cream and buttercream on the outside, with the most gorgeous unicorn decorations. We provided the unicorn horn and eyelashes. The baker piped the most dreamy hair to match a photo I sent them. Highly recommend ordering from here.
