Ribs and brisket were fine, just not outstanding. Sides were generous but also just ok. Came on a warm day, but the attractive patio seemed a little smokey with the grill all fired up. Inside was cool enough. Parking was a little crowded that day. No complaints, but also no standouts either.

The best secret locals are keeping about Petaluma is Butcher Crown Roadhouse! Fabulous food, instantaneous very personable service....and a nice, large outdoor seating space. This is the kind of place that makes Petaluma so special.

Since Sonoma Magazine mentioned this spot which is near us, we went today and I will be back, again and again, for the pulled pork sandwich. The meat was not just fabulously flavored; it was juicy. The entire sandwich is the best pulled pork sandwich I have ever had. They believe in pickles here and pickles make a huge difference. I rarely like potato salad out but asked to sample theirs. Once I tasted it, I happily ordered it. It has the perfect mix of potato chunks and smashed potatoes and again, the pickle juice elevates it. The brisket is simply the best my husband has ever had. The owner was there, hard at work, and open to talking about his craft. Great staff. Not cheap but quality well worth it.

I found this by Google show me BBQ near me. It was not easy to find though it is right on a main street. 100 percent worth the persistence. I am a carnivore (eat only meat). I had a half rack of ribs that were perfect. I then had 1/2 pound of brisket which was by far the highlight and so juicy, tender and tasty (and nice and fatty). I had to hot links and though they are themselves a bit over priced in my view they are very good. Another 1/2 pound of tri tip I believe. The first bite was a bit dry and so I was ready to be disappointed. But nope it was just a bite that was not perfect and the rest was moist and tender. This is by far my new favorite for BBQ in Sonoma County. One last thing; The staff was friendly, informative and eager to please. There was a fair representation of the choices without feeling like I was being "sold". Go here ... Go here tonight ... Like me I think you will go here often.

The service was abysmal, understaffed. And wait time for takeout was 45 minutes. I kept smelling the smoker and it smelled like burnt rubber which transferred to the meat. I couldn’t eat it and had to throw it out. This was the third time we tried this place and we’ll never be back. I will also tell my friends and family about these experiences.

Best brisket in California. Try it with the pit beans and greens. They have bbq sandwiches and burgers too! Good beer selections. Casual seating, easy to order + Friendly staff. Never going back to Lombardis.

The food is excellent. Servers are super friendly and accommodating to someone who asks for things differently. Patio setting is where it’s at watching the smoke billow out of the smokers. I really like that they bring the food to your table and they have bingo on Friday evenings with food giveaways!!Check it out.

I was craving BBQ and kind of went off the beaten path (for me, anyway) to find this place. Am I ever glad I did!!! As soon as I pulled into the parking lot, the almost mind-altering fragrance of the smoker working its magic pleasingly enveloped me. A sandwich board propped up on the front porch welcomed people dining "in" to come to the back porch. Nothing fancy - not that you'd want your BBQ served in fancy surroundings - but the place is charming, inside & out. I arrived around 4:30, pretty much the first person there. I was promptly greeted, invited to sit wherever I liked, and shown how to pull up the menu on my phone. Everyone who helped me (John, Sam, and I can't believe I forgot the name of the guy running the smoker!) was relaxed and friendly, putting me right at ease. I'm not always comfortable dining out on my own, but Butcher Crown is an exception to this! I found out they play bingo on the back porch on Fridays. This turned out to be lots of fun, with prizes of food or drink for a winning card! Didn't get a bingo, but had a real good time trying! Maybe next time... As soon as 5:00 rolled around, the space started to fill up. The crowd was diverse: A few couples, several groups that might have been friends/neighbors/coworkers/roommates, and one big, multi generational family ranging in age from an 18-month-old to her grandma. Burying the lead: I ordered the Brisket Platter. The meat itself was so spectacular - perfectly smoked & seasoned, tender, and juicy - I devoured most of the sizeable pile without dousing it in the very tasty, on-the-sweet-side (how I like it) sauce. And to my delight, unlike many places calling themselves BBQ joints, the sides (a sweet and creamy hand-cut cole slaw & the most luscious mac 'n' cheese) were equal to the main! Dessert was a Key lime tart, perfectly sized for one, that tasted just like my favorite summer dessert is supposed to! Props to Mad Batter Cakery Co. Santa Rosa, who supply the desserts. Butcher Crown Roadhouse fed me exceptionally well and showed me a really fine time; I'll be back for sure!!!

This may be a bit unorthodox, being a member of the staff here at BCR, but I wanted to take the time to let you as a public know about the behind-the-scenes of this establishment. Pete is the most down to earth and understanding person I’ve ever worked for, he gets that his staff is made of humans and we have our limitations. The QR code system was set in place to account for the feelings of the staff and to help us in case of shortages or emergencies. No one else has ever done anything of the sort for me, nor have I heard about restaurant owners acknowledging the struggles of the lower rung members and doing something productive about it. 10/10This team of people is my family. We LOVE our jobs and we love working for Pete (and Brooklyn lol). So when you come see us, know you aren’t just supporting a small business, you’re supporting a good dude who cares. That’s almost more important than the off the charts brisket and burgers. Please come see us. We’d love to see you.

I recently decided to try Butcher Crown as a potential alternative to Lombardi's BBQ in Petaluma, a place I hold in high regard. However, after my visit, I must emphatically conclude that it does not live up to my expectations. One aspect that immediately caught my attention was the ordering process. Rather than interacting with staff members, customers are required to place their orders through an app. As a longtime tech worker, I am comfortable with this approach. However, I was disappointed to find that the app did not allow for full customization of my order. Specifically, I wanted to decline mayo on my pulled pork sandwich, but the app did not provide that option. Consequently, my sandwich arrived with large dollops of some unidentified mayo-based sauce, which did not enhance my dining experience.Furthermore, the other elements of my meal were equally underwhelming. The "Bay fries" appeared and tasted as though they had been hastily defrosted from a bulk bag purchased at Costco. The Bay seasoning, which should have imparted a distinctive flavor, was barely detectable.Despite these disappointments, I must acknowledge the warm greeting we received from the hostess upon our arrival as a notable positive aspect of the experience.
