I went back this last week and was so disappointed in how things had changed. The vegan options (and there are only a few now) were so sad. The mushroom gnocchi that was phenomenal last December was bland and had hardly any mushrooms or other vegetables in it. It was tough and lifeless.
The chocolate tahini cake was the only vegan dessert option and it was dry. I expected more for the prices, especially because I know they can do so much better.
Service was wonderful, as always. And the setting is lovely.

Wow Dempsey was a million times better. Sad to see this is what replaced it. Food was not good. Drinks from the blonde bartender were good though.
Also while I was eating there I saw the management being very mean to the servers. Will not be back.

Attentive staff, good food and great location. Add bacon to the gnocchi. Try a Sazerac, then a second. By the third you'll understand. Go for it.

Ok....I have not eaten here yet but I live in Ptown and will soon. You have to read this. My wife and I tonight were threatened and chased by a homeless guy and we ran into their restaurant. They locked the doors until the guy was arrested. PLEASE KNOW IN 5 YRS OF LIVING HERE IT IS SAFE AROUND LUMAS!!! However if something weird happens they will take in a stranger. Thank you Luma! The female manager who helped us needs a raise! Sorry I forgot your name!

Why is everyone so impressed with this place? My flatbread for lunch was boring in every way. $25 for nothing. And ‘something mechanical’ was blasting the whole time. ? Simple little salad was good. Thats it!

Bland as a real lack of seasoning. Fries were and the quality of the food ingredients were good but the dishes overall lacked any seasoning and thus were very bland. The best part was the calamari but the portion was small.

Incredible Rehearsal Dinner & Welcome Party – Flawless Experience at Luma
We hosted our rehearsal dinner and welcome party at Luma Bar & Eatery, and I truly cannot overstate how wonderful the entire experience was. From start to finish, working with Jazmine (the owner) was a dream. She was incredibly responsive, thoughtful, and creative—always ready with helpful answers and great questions that made the planning process feel smooth and stress-free.
We decided on a family-style dinner, and the food was absolutely divine—plentiful, beautifully presented, and full of delicious options. Every guest left raving about the meal, and Luma handled all dietary restrictions seamlessly, without any fuss. Jazmine and her team made it all feel effortless.
We did a partial buyout of the restaurant and started the evening with an indoor rehearsal dinner for a portion of our guests. Later, the space transitioned into an indoor/outdoor welcome party for everyone. The transition was handled so smoothly by the Luma staff—it never felt disjointed or chaotic. We also served desserts at the welcome party, which were a huge hit, and the bar kept the energy going with excellent cocktails. They even crafted custom specialty drinks for the night, and one guest told me it was the best Paper Plane she’d ever had!
The ambiance, the service, the food and drinks—everything came together to create a beautiful, memorable evening. So many of our guests complimented us afterward, saying how much they loved the atmosphere and how perfect the event felt.
A special shoutout to Jazmine, who was not only a fantastic partner in planning, but also incredibly accommodating—she even let my dad and I rearrange tables during a site visit to get the layout just right. Her attention to detail and genuine care for our experience made all the difference.
If you're considering Luma Bar & Eatery for a private event, do it. You’ll be in amazing hands, and your guests will be talking about it long after the night is over.
