Stopped in on a whim - rare Sunday morning alone in Petaluma. Sat at the counter. Nice, helpful staff. Shrimp and grits were very good - shrimp was tempura fried, which was a novelty for me. Egg was as ordered - a little runny. Grits were yummy. Biscuit was huge and fluffy and very good. A little pricy ($35 for just me) but what isn't pricey in CA? Highly recommend.

Delicious and high energy environment. Seated very quickly on Sunday at noon too. I liked their outdoor seating and the servers were very nice.
Visit here for large portions coupled with the taste and flamboyant service. The steak , coupled with the hash browns and over easy poach was cooked to the perfection and special mention should be provided to crab cake benedict. The biscuit was ok, not too outstanding.

Sax's Joint offers a charming 50's style atmosphere that takes you back in time. We found this place based on all the amazing reviews on both Google and Yelp. From the beginning, the service was fast and friendly. Luckily, we came early enough so we didn't have to wait. Due to the small size of the restaurant, everyone who arrives when the restaurant is full has to wait outside, which doesn't sound that great, especially on a chilly morning or a rainy day. Our server, Baily, was nice and attentive. We had two cups of coffee, and I had waffles with whipped cream, while my husband opted for the chicken fried steak with eggs and hashbrowns. The chicken fried steak was tough and chewy, but the gravy had a nice flavor. The hashbrowns and eggs were good, though not outstanding. Overall, everything was good, but nothing was great.

This place is really special. Not only is the food good, like wow they really can cook, but there is absolutely so much love that goes into this place. It’s woman owned, the interactions between the employees is so charming, sassy and funny. Everyone is family there. The owners are also so passionate about cooking, sometimes you can hear them chatting up new techniques for cooking after eating delicious food.
If you’re not coming here for the great vibes and supporting local businesses, at least come for the delicious food.
