The food is not bad. The waitresses are usually not very friendly, and when a complaint was brought to the owner about bad service, he was dismissive and ignored the complaint. The fact that the dishes are so expensive and in addition, one has to give tips, sounds like a joke. Only a small bag of chips is about $5.00.

Small sitting area we were a party of 15. Food is decent. We ordered the chile relleno rate it 10 out of 10. I liked that they had a kids menu and the staff was frendly. We paid $80 for a family of 5.

I went to go eat dinner with my father. We arrived at 6:50 pm. My father and I ordered the same thing. It was the tampiqueña: it was a piece of meat and it was flavorful and tender. It came with a enchilada, Spanish rice, and beans, it was delicious. They had hand-made tortillas. I devoured it. The restaurant closes at 7:30 pm, my father and I were there passed 7:30 pm. They did not rush us. The waitress Fabiola was polite and talkative with my father. There's plenty of parking. I'd come back. The menu for breakfast and appetizers looked delicious.

We came for Mother's Day to celebrate like many families do. Nevertheless they gave us a time estimate of 30 min to seat us but we waited almost and hour and 15 min. I completely understand that time eta can vary but I would not give such short ime if I new it was going to be extremely busy.

To add on, once we were seated, we were not offered a menu for about 5 min and a different family that was seated after us had been given menus and chip and they're drinks already which is insane.

Moreover, the old man in the counter began arguing with my parents saying that we weren't given stuff because we never wrote down our names onto the waiting list but we in fact did. Like mentioned we were waiting to be called for past an hour. It was extremely unprofessional as he was doing this in front of other patrons. This was extremely uncomfortable and unwell.

Now lastly, the waitress was extremely unprofessional and not helpful she was attending us with attitude and was putting our food on top of napkins and more. She also kept slamming our plates to the table which cause us to feel even more uncomfortable.

I would not recommend coming here on a holiday of any sort or potentially as an everyday go to as this experience was extremely negative.

The food is good, and the service is decent.
Update: Please, clean tables and chairs thoroughly every time!(And add Birria de Chivo to the dish options 👇🏽)

Been coming to this location and El Monte’s for years! Both locations are just as good. The birria de chivo is my fave, but the food altogether is as authentic as can be. The fresh tortillas a mano are perfect. And the chips and salsa are only the beginning to it all. Top Mex Food spot around!🔥🇲🇽❤️😋

This location differs significantly from others in nearby Downey and Bell Gardens, CA. For one, they only serve beer, not liquor. I went with two others and we ordered two plates of chilaquiles verdes, which came with rice and beans. We also added a carne asada plate and two micheladas. Service was mediocre, but the beans were great. Unfortunately, none of the chilaquiles were crispy, and the salsa verde was chunky with tomatillo skins, which no self-respecting Mexican mother would use in her chilaquiles.
The bill totaled $104. The chilaquiles verdes were priced at $16.95 each (around $33 for both), so the carne asada plate likely cost about $20. The carne asada itself was decent, but other places offer better flavor. This brings the total to around $50-60, which made me wonder if the micheladas were priced like stadium drinks. However, unlike the vibrant atmosphere at a place like Dodger Stadium, this location lacked charm. The booths were old, worn, and patched up with duct tape.

I’m still trying to figure out how the bill got so high. When we arrived, we had one server who finished her shift without announcing it. We only realized she left when a new server came to check on us. Usually, servers let you know when they’re leaving and introduce their replacement, but that wasn’t the case here.
There are better places nearby, unfortunately I ended up here because my usual choice with excellent food and service is closed Mondays. Save your time and money and calories.
