Slow slow slow… I’ve been here for dinner time, evening cocktails, and morning coffee. So that’s three different time frames, however every time the same old thing. Extremely slow and chaotic service. The atmosphere is fine, and the food is decent. The service is horrible. If you have all of the time in the world, then I’d recommend it, I guess. If you have any sort of timeline, do not come.

Everything was delicious! The toast was fluffy and loaded with avocado (basically a whole avocado), a perfect latte, and some dope art

Like the coffee shop, but closing 1-4 means I can't really go there to get any work done. Please add more hours.

They started going here because of trivia night and then I had a friend that hosted Open mic night. I enjoyed my espresso martinis and the fun surroundings. I definitely recommend this place for food, drinks and fun. Right now open. My night is stock but I hope they restarted because I enjoy the raw timing or the no talent. It's all fun

I ordered the bayzigg egg sandwich , which comes with omelete style egg. I ordered before it was really good. Today it came with the wrong style egg it was their marbled egg, so i went back to get it fixed but i was told thats how they do it now. I feel really disrespected and now will not come back here. I refunded the sandwhich and its really bad customer service to tell a customer they are wrong when i had ordered it before and it was different.

Iced Havana is by far my favorite drink here! I always make a stop and grab one. Atmosphere is open and inviting but can get pretty busy with limited tables.

Super cute coffee spot in Pinole. Has great coffee & treats, and transitions into a fabulous happy hour and after hours hangout. They have many events like DJs and they offer great cocktails. 10/10 recommend!

Came here for coffee and breakfast and then again for happy hour around 4:30pm with co-workers.

Breakfast service is a bit chaotic because it's rather busy. They got our order wrong but fixed it right away. The Belly Up sandwich is really hearty and good. Highly recommended.

The happy hour vibe is much more relaxed with great service. The espresso Martini is excellent, the pisco punch is a bit too sour for my taste. The Onion fries, fried cauliflower and glazed pork belly are all very good, although the portion of the pork belly is small. All in all, best place in Pinole for coffee, breakfast and drinks.

Interesting, but confusing venu for coffee/cafe vibes in the morning, but dinner/bar vibes in the evening. When you enter, the bar layout is very confusing; do I order from anywhere on the bar, do I wait to be seated? Staff look at you like you should already know. Not a lot of friendly greetings or smiles. It's not intuitive for a first time customer. The food was good and drinks OK. However when I asked staff about gluten in a drink on their menu, and male staff behind the bar was pretty condescending when answering, and was unable to show me a list of ingredients. They also close between lunch and dinner, which is very confusing, and there menu totally changes depending on the shift. So if you feel like a latte with a pastry after work, forget about it. Want to use this spot to study for an exam? Be prepared to call it quits promptly at 1pm. Late lunch at 2pm? Pear Street Bistro it is.

It gets packed in here , but its a nice vibe. Good strong coffee, tasty bites of food and affordable. Good place to bring your laptop and work. Full bar as well for an evening cocktail .

I stopped into East Bay Cafe in Pinole recently while waiting for a client and ended up sitting there for almost an hour. During that entire time, not once did any of the staff behind the counter make eye contact, check in, or offer a simple “Can I get you something?”

The issue wasn’t online ordering or confusion about how to order — I was seated right there, clearly visible. The real problem was that the employees seemed completely wrapped up in their own personal conversations: talking about weekend plans, music, parties, and everything except the customers in front of them.

It’s a shame, because the space itself has potential, but the service I experienced felt careless and unprofessional. A café that serves both coffee and alcohol should still remember the basics of hospitality — acknowledging the people who walk in. Until that changes, I can’t recommend this place.

Paid through Square, waited an hour — no one bothered to make it

I ordered ahead through Google Maps / Square Pay and got the confirmation text. I showed up, waited nearly an hour past my pickup time, and finally went to ask what happened. The barista looked at me and said, “Oh, it’s right here. Do you want me to make it?”

Excuse me? The drink was “right there” but never made? I had already paid. This isn’t a favor — it’s basic service.

If a café chooses to use Square for online orders, it should at least monitor the tablet and fulfill them. Customers shouldn’t have to chase down their paid items or feel invisible while the staff socializes.

This experience was embarrassing for the business and frustrating for me. I won’t be back unless management decides to treat online customers with the same attention as walk-ins.

That kind of dismissive treatment is unacceptable. I live in the area and am well connected with lodges and organizations in Pinole and Hercules (Elks, Lions, etc.). I will be sharing my experience locally so others know how I was treated.
