My daughter and I love Happy Sashimi, so when we got the chance to be at Pinole Valley Shopping Center, we have to eat here. This time we decided to order to go, and as always the customer service, and the Sushi were top notch! Besides our regular California rolls, we ordered Hello Kittie, Golden Rolls, and Shrimp Tempura!

Went downhill after the pandemic. It’s overpriced, poor quality, rundown, and the servers are pretentious.Never returning.

Gas station sushi at best. Mushy sushi rice and this sweet sauce on the rolls. I feel like a fool for dropping $100 on some take out. Guess I should have checked the yelp reviews. I an surprised, people were dinning inside.

Best sushi in the Bay Area in my opinion. The garlic edamame is a really nice appetizer while waiting for the rolls. Sashimi is fresh and the roll selection is generous. I've been coming here for many years. Understandably, after the pandemic, service has taken a bit of a back seat, and last time I was there they closed for 30 minutes without posting that on their operating hours, but complaints are far and few between and I'll forgive a kick on the nuts if it means getting a seat. Yea. It's that good.

Everytime I order when I get home to eat something is missing, 2 times was my miso soup , unfortunately I never checked because they gave us a tied bag, u trust everything is inside , the sushi is good but if u ever order to pick up make sure nothing is missing before you get home…..

So glad they survived the pandemic havoc. I have been here once for dinner before - back during my pre-Yelp days - and I remember being impressed then. I'm not sure why they fell off my radar, but they popped right back in it when I had a taste for a bento box lunch. There are other places offering the same thing, but this was the only one that had one or two item bento combos - plus I really wanted the grilled mackerel (most places don't have this!) So, I got that combo'd with karaage chicken. It wasn't busy even if it was in dab smack in the middle of rush hour, but I'll attribute that to the holidays. There were about 3 (maybe 4?) tables occupied at the time I came through. I put in my grub choices and waited. The miso soup came through first. The miso and salt level of the broth was perfect. It was a great starter and hit the spot more especially on a cold and rainy East Bay day. Then the bento box came through. My first thought was, "Good thing I didn't order an app..." because this dish is BIG. Like big enough to share with another, if need be! GRILLED MACKEREL: This took center stage. Grilled and seasoned to perfection, there was a good char on the skin. Fish was moist, tender and flaky. I couldn't get enough of it. I'm not sure how, but I managed to eat the whole thing! Recommending this, if only as an app. Just try it! CHICKEN KARAAGE: It's pretty deceiving. Appearance was a little sad, but it's one of those instances where it shouldn't be judged by its initial appearance. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It didn't need the sauce, but added to the flavor, albeit slightly. It was a good 2nd choice for the bento box. But because I was so tunnel visioned and finished the fish, I had plenty of leftovers for a 2nd meal. SALAD AND EDAMAME: Great palate cleanser between bites. DEEP FRIED OREOS: I'm not really a dessert person, but this was a good finish to a great meal. FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 5. There wasn't a lot of interaction as there was only one server, but she did check on me when she could and there was service with a smile. The wait wasn't very long, either, so kudos to the kitchen staff as well! VALUE: 4. Prices went up since my last visit. And I'll admit, when I was going through their menu, I thought "'oy, pricey, eh!?" But the fish alone was well worth it. More than fair. PARKING: Shared with other businesses. It may seem a bit chaotic - especially during the lunch hour - but spots will pop up here and there. Patience is key. OVERALL: 4.5. Great 2nd run (even if the 1st seemed like forever ago!) I will return to try their apps and sushi. Certainly looking forward to that!

Happy Sashimi never fails to deliver delicious Japanese food. We love going here. Friendly service and clean atmosphere. I love their Spicy Chicken. I keep coming back for more. Their Ramen is also customizable to our liking. One of our favorites is their Nigiri Sushi combos. It's a must-try.

Okay folks... Is the wait long? Sure, but I imagine they are also fulfilling all the to-go orders that are coming in. I've come here pre-pandemic, when my kids were taking music classes next door... and post-pandemic, when I've stopped by for some decent local sushi. The staff are helpful and as prompt as possible. The wait is long, but I don't go out to eat just so I can finish my meal in 15 minutes. I go to relax, have a drink, and enjoy the experience. The sushi is good and consistent. The fish is usually fresh, my fave is the salmon and tuna. My kids enjoy the udon here as well. Are there better sushi spots? Yes depending on what you're looking for and how far you are willing to drive. I do think their rolls could use a bit less rice and a tighter roll, but now I'm getting too far into the weeds. For a local sushi spot it is decent, and the staff have always been super friendly.

This is a wonderful spot to have a lovely dinner out. Their food is delicious, and it's obvious they take good care with their ingredients. Everything is prepared beautifully and the ramen and udon were amazing! It's the best sushi place around--it's a must visit.

Absolutely the worst meal I've had in years! I ordered the shrimp tempura entree. It arrived without the miso soup, or salad, or rice. The battered shrimp was so soggy it completely broke apart when I tried to eat any of it, and was as limp as a wet dish rag. Tasteless, slimy, total waste of our time and money. We will NEVER eat there again!!!

The restaurant clean and had a steady stream of customers - singles, couples and small groups. The food was delicious. Due to the pandemic, not all the sashimi was available (supply chain), the wait staff was down to 1 and the chefs down to 2. Not their fault that it took a while to serve everyone as quickly as they would if fully staffed. We enjoyed our meal and used the time to converse.

It could be called Rude Sashimi. The waitstaff is ever-changing and always too young to be responsible workers. I was there with my very elderly family member. The service was so terrible that we left before even ordering. It is cluttered, disorganized and worst of all, has unprofessional staff. I suppose that the owner hears all of these comments repeatedly and doesn't care. I understand the challenges in a pandemic. However, this place is lacking in so many ways. The food is only ok. I had gone home with the wrong order once, and the staff told me that I was mistaken. I know what buckwheat noodles are and aren't. I will not spend one more dollar in this subpar establishment. Too many other choices, including Japanese ones, nearby.
