Absolutely terrible. A filthy, disorganized store. I usually go to the store in El Cerrito, but I live nearby and I wanted to pick up a few things. When I could not find the product I wanted-a memorial candle to light in the anniversary of my Dad's death-I asked for the manager. A short, heavyset woman said she was the manager. She said that she didn't know where anything was and that she was the manager of the Rodeo store that closed. She addressed me as "Hey Buddy..." I am a retired attorney in my 70s. Absolutely disrespectful and ignorant of the products she sells.

I hate the gigantic superstores that Safeway is putting up these days. I live solo, have a bad hip. It is really off-putting to have to navigate a football field size store full of crap that has nothing to do with groceries for some simple and common items to eat. I use to shop in Oakland at the Grand Ave or Foothill Sq or Albany on Solano because these stores are still normal size. But since COVID has me working from home in (bleech) Hilltop-Richmond, I go to the Tara Hills location. But not anymore. Nothing is ever in stock. Dairy, eggs, bread, meat always out of stock no matter what time of day you shop. The parking lot is beyond gross and the cashiers are the slowest you can find.

The store is terribly rundown with no renovations or cleaning in sight. But I could look past that if the products were at least stocked or good. I've bought the Boston Creme Cake many times over the years here and lately I've noticed a severe dip in quality, ESPECIALLY on $5 Fridays. I'm pretty sure their $5 Friday products are old cakes they couldn't sell during the week. The sponge in the cake is always dried out, as if it were frozen then thawed in a refrigerator. Sometimes the whipped cream is also incredibly old, leaving that weird waxy taste in the mouth. They're selling old food that they probably would've otherwise thrown out.

It's my 2nd home. But they're moving to Hercules. That's going to be a mess with traffic!

I stepped up to the red square block and I was about to put my grocery items on the convey belt, when suddenly the cashier yelled at me very loudly to step back and in a sarcastically said, "we're in a pandemic." then not even 20 second later she yelled me to place my items on the convey belt. When I finally reached the credit card swipe, I informed her I was standing where the person behind me is standing now. She then refused to help me. I asked for the manager-- and she (Michelle) said she is the manager and there is no one else. Now will stick to Trader Joe's just up the street.

Always have healthy looking roses. They have other beautiful flowers too but I like the roses for both Moms, Auntie and Baby Sis. Plus I can usually get in and out fast.

Do not observe state Covid-19 precautions. It's great that they were open on Christmas Day. None of the patrons in line were even trying to observe social distancing. and run around wearing masks like face diapers (nose uncovered, mouth partially uncovered,) The staff when told do not do anything to effectively prevent Covid spread--they shrug or try to laugh it off. Shop there at your own risk.

This has to be the worst Safeway store . Never enough cashiers . Lines all the way to the back of the store . Today I witnessed an employee attack an elderly lady in a wheel chair . When her son defended her the employee tried to fight the son . I thought I was in a elementary play ground . The employee involved spends most the day talking in the back by the milk section . He made a big screen with the customer . After the customer walked away he continued to talk about the customer to another customer . Been shopping her for 30 years I think I'll make the drive to Luckys from now on . So sad

Horrible deli. How does it take 20 mins to make 2 sandwiches...? Mind you I asked for a corn dog and 2 chicken strips and the deli clerk proceeds to give me the most burnt corn dog of them all along with the 2 most meatless chicken strips I ever had... the deli clerks are lazy and have no clue what is on their own menu. I would give 0 stars if I had the option.
