stopped by on our way out of town. A little early for chowder but they were open on this Friday so we must stop!! Excellent choice.
Lots of people come here for the chowder in a sourdough bowl. I can’t have a lot of milk items. I always get the fish and chips. They are good. The accompanying fries are just average. During this time there was no inside seating. They had a special area roped off taking up half the the side street.
We ordered Their clam chowder sourdough bread chicken strips- all great. Door dash messed up our order- manager was right on target to make it right- even delivered to our room as they are very close! Great job!
I have spent a lot of time in Pismo growing up and never really understood the appeal of waiting so long for food, but I was never a shellfish fan. Gave it a try this time and it was spectacular. The lobster roll was amazing and the fish and chips were delish!
I didn’t get to eat all the clam chowders Pismo beach has to offer but based on the reviews, awards and a constant line of people waiting for their Famous Bread Bowl, i can tell that this is one of the best, if not the place. We had clam chowder in a bread bowl with calamari and curly fries. We love the clam chowder! If not for the pretty long wait, we would have came back the next day. The place is currently open for take out. They do have outdoor seating available.
my wife loves the clam chowder and we come here whenever we can. Awesome soup and definitely recommend coming here for the Chowder alone!
have been here many, many times, everytime I'm in the area I make it a point to order some chowder. it comes out piping hot and creamy. nice outdoor patio area that's been set up due to covid restrictions, doubling the dining area space. attentive staff, wiping down tables inbetween guests promptly. I always try to go a little early to beat the crowds.
Clam chowder is award winning and will be obvious once you try. Not full of potatoes or cheap flour-based. Generous portion of clam strips on the appetizer menu. And the fish combo had three, quality fish steaks of two different white fish and one salmon. Lightly breaded and perfectly seasoned atop a mound of crispy fries. Came with a big side salad, too. Order directly from them and pay a small delivery fee—that way, they keep all the profits.
Splash has the best clam chowder in California! I especially love the clam chowder in a bread bowl fully loaded. I appreciate the COVID set-up you have, plenty of distancing between tables inside and out, plenary of air running thru the restaurant and all staff were properly wearing their masks.
Been going to Splash for the clam chowder bread bowls since I was a kid. Look forward to it every visit.

This place is so good I came back three times during my week at Pismo Beach. Definitely get the clam chowder and get the seafood add-in for an extra $1.50. And as long as you are here, you’ve gotta get the bread bowl too! Yum! The perfect lunch!
Clam chowder didn’t meet our high expectations, a little too gritty and not enough flavor. Great outdoor sitting and very attentive staff, they found a way to accommodate our large group right away. Fish and chips was good.
If you are ever at Pismo Beach go to Splash Cafe. The line out the door is an indication of how great their clam chowder is. Seated is limited and the line may be long but it is so worth the wait. Order a clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl and you will not be disappointed. I like to add on the seafood topping which is crab and shrimp on top. As a rule, my family and I will always try to eat at Spash Cafe when driving through or staying in the Pismo Beach area. I love the place and always look forward to returning.
