The food is different from what Mexican restaurants normally serve. My husband had chicken with mole sauce. I ordered lamb enchiladas. The lamb is so soft and easy to eat. The enchiladas are wonderful with the cheese sauces they put on top. Their ice tea is the best. The waitress we had was so sweet. She kept our ice tea glasses full. Really liked our waitress. It has an interesting menu because the chef's want to serve interesting dishes. We would go back.

I ordered the Diver Scallops. Before I saw them come from behind me, I could smell them from more than 5 feet away. Reeked of old fish. These were not fresh. The kitchen staff knew so they over-cooked them to cover up the unsatisfactory scallops. They never should have been served. The sauce they were on was good, as was the taste and quantity of the salsa, But over $50 for what I'm pretty sure were scallops from the previous week?

The food, ambience, and service were excellent. My only complaint was that the woven chairs in the covered patio were fraying and unraveling with the loose strands catching on my wife's dress. I would hate to think what would happen if an expensive garment was torn as a result.

Great patio location, unfortunately the service is horrible. Went for lunch (party of 2) after a hike at the Pismo Conservation Center. Ordered drinks and food, unfortunately after 20 plus minutes of waiting for our drinks the food was brought out. We began eating our food still without our drinks after being halfway done with our meal the drinks came out. The drinks we ordered 1 Pepsi no ice, 1draft 805 blonde ale, 1 mocktail. Please avoid this place like the plague and go elsewhere in Pismo.

They forgot our appetizers. We starved for an hour while we watched others who sat down after us get their food. The valet guy kept insisting we had to give him $20 for the hour we parked although we spent $100+ for dinner and had our parking validation from the restaurant. Very disappointing.

We really enjoyed our Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinners at Penguin Coastal Cocina. Service was great for every meal. They make excellent drinks at the bar. Beautiful resort. Can't wait to go back. Love that place. 😊

Halibut ceviche was a bit bland but fresh. Churros with cognac for dessert was fab. Main issues with outdoor dining is annoying pop tune sound system - loud and inescapable - bummed because having tacos overlooking the pacific next to the beach at a fire pit during happy hour could be magical . Service : our waiter was impeccable! Five stars for her.
Went for breakfast out of busquits and gravy..out of of them so they said they would sub English Muffins..ok..the muffins slathered in the gravy made them so soggy they were AWFUL and the gravy..worst so called "gravy" I'd ever tasted..so, had the two strips of bacon and two eggs for $21..definitely won't go back

Disappointing dinner both nights. Ordered what was supposed to be fresh halibut last night .. $46 and was very small and dry as a bone. All 3 of us ordered it and all came out that way. Hardly fresh . It was frozen. Calamari was soggy . Chicken Mole was rubbery and unseasoned chicken and mole sauce was one of the worst I’ve ever had. Bartender Rebecca however is a rockstar. Great bar service but kitchen is bad. Don’t eat there.

Food was creative the service was great..all the staff went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. We had dinner and breakfast during our visit..really enjoyed both. We were not staying at the hotel..we thought we would try the restaurant and glad we did..we will definitely return.
