My wife and I enjoy vacationing in Pismo Beach and when we do, we try to stop by WOW YANAGI SUSHI. We were there in February and stopped by on a Monday around noon. It was not crowded inside. We were greeted as soon as we entered. Our waitress was a Japanese woman, INJA S. She was a very competent server. We ordered the 2-item: salmon teriyaki with chicken teriyaki and the 2-item: salmon teriyaki with tempura. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was hot. The portions were fine. Both dishes were very good. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the tempura was fluffy and lightly battered. I asked to swap my soup for extra rice and was accommodated. We decided to eat at WOW YANAGI SUSHI a second time on this trip and went back the following Thursday at about noon. Once again, it was not very crowded and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. The same waitress served us and this time we ordered the 3-item: salmon teriyaki, chicken teriyaki and 8-piece California Roll along with the same 2-item: salmon teriyaki with tempura. Once again, the food arrived in a decent amount of time and was hot. Everything was good, as we had expected. The California Roll was fresh and tasty. This time, INJA S stopped to make small talk with us about where we were visiting from and other pleasantries. Later, a Japanese employee from the sushi bar or kitchen, must have noticed we arrived in an Acura. He was obviously a car-guy as he stopped to chat with us about our car. We didn't mind either person stopping to talk with us, as we were pretty much done eating. It was nice to have the employees show some interest in a couple that returned to eat there twice in just four days. There are restrooms at the location. My wife said the women's restroom has a table with chairs which makes it a convenient place for women to place their purse or other things. On our first visit there, I noticed the soap dispenser was empty in the men's room and mentioned it to the waitress. She said she would have it taken care of. Sure enough, the soap was refilled on our second visit. Kudos! There is plenty of free parking. We will surely return in the future.

We go there frequently. One small hot saki one large bottle of Saporo. Shrimp and veg tempura. And each have a Dynamite dish that's very very satisfying. Try it you'll love it.

Excellent food. A little spendy but certainly delicious. I had an one of the best oyster shooters. I would return.Parking: Easy in, easy out. This location is in a strip mall.Kid-friendliness: I wouldn't think so. Small, quiet, and it's sushi, there's that.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes!

The only thing WOW about this place are the prices. Went there yesterday for lunch. Hubby and I both ordered the same 3 item combo. They brought mine, but delayed his by 15 minutes. For the EXACT same combo? Portions were tiny. Literally three weeds of lettuce as the salad. Tiny California roll. 3 pieces of mini sushi and the fish had obviously been frozen. $9.00 for mexican mackerel sushi? Really?Wouldn't order sushi for that price. They even skimped on the bowl of rice. $3.75 for ice tea. $51 and we were hungry when we left. Will never go back.

Mediocre overall including service and food. Ramen was good but not very filling for $9.95 without protein. The shrimp tempura was good but super expensive at $12.50 for four pieces. Not likely to go back....

The food was very good and the service was excellent.Vegetarian options: I wish there were more vegetarian dishes to order from. I'm not sure if you can order a regular dish and ask with no meat or fish. It would be nice to have a multi-vegetable dish that is the main part of the dish.

Atmosphere is pretty average for a Japanese restaurant, service was OK but not as good as I would have expected for how few customers were there, the Ramen was pretty basic, almost like someone just added a few vegetables to packaged Ramen, my girlfriend barely touched her udon, and I've gotten better California roll and spicy tuna rolls from a grocery store

Great family-run sushi spot. My family and I have been going here for years and every visit is just as special. The staff is so friendly and loves to chat with our kiddos. Try it out.

This is awful and disrespectful. According to them this plate is Vegetables for a beef teriyaki plate. So poor plate for $25I never give negative feedback, but if I could give a 0 stars I would.

We got take out from here tonight. Udon sounded good for a cold rainy day. We're very disappointed at the portion of protein fir the price. One piece of shrimp is all that came with the tempura udon for $18.95. My husband's Nabeyaki Udon was not much better. Just a tiny amount of chicken, one piece of shrimp and one mussel. His cost $17.95. Why did mine cost more and I got less? Also the mussel was rubbery and tough.

I ordered cut rolls to-go and it came out to $18 something with tax. These rolls were the tiniest rolls that I have ever seen! Complete RIP-OFF! When I ordered over the phone I asked for extra oyster sauce, and did not receive any! Another disappointment! Come here for TINY PORTIONS and to have your requests ignored! Waste of money! Oh, and I was shocked that no one was eating in the restaurant, completely empty! Bad sign! Should have read the one star reviews first.
