Love this place, fun place to shoot, camp, as well as hunt. Deer season is a a hit and miss as the local cat and bear population drive away nice bucks often. Hunting can seem stressful but nonetheless still a great trip.

I have visited the Ice House Resort many times, the service was great! Friendly people in the bar, in the cafe, in the store, and at the campgrounds. They tend to get very busy and sometimes don't have the time to hang out and chit chat, but they sure are awesome with the time you do get with them. We'll continue to stop at the Resort every time we are in the Crystal Basin Recreation Area.

I have been going to sunset Campgrounds for over 40 years and know Julie and Bob, the owners of Ice House Resort, for the same period of time. The place is friendly, archaic, wacky, full of love, history, and fun.The bar is iconic and a must-see when visiting, and the campground is inviting. Please visit, and you will return, as we have, year after year!

Years ago I took a summer job at a pack station/rustic resort up in Trinity County. This place has the same vibe as the old Trinity Alps Resort. Recently we reconned the crystal basin the week before, had stopped at the store for a drink and snacks, and found the place quite suitable to our needs. We just returned from two days trailering at the Ice House Resort, and found the management to be more helpful than I can say. Yes, the store isn't much, but it has what you'll need. Yes it's a little rustic,, but that's part of the char, Yes, being the off season, they're they're not overstaffed, but they'll do what they can to be helpful. Yes, there are things that could be fixed, but this is snow country where stuff breaks under snow loads. This is certainly not a high end resort, but we loved our stay there, and we look forward to going back again, and soon.

I was very pleasantly surprised that while I could pick up ice and some supplies we needed from the store, but was also able to get a California Fishing License here. That was a nice surprise and prevented us from having to drive into Placerville to get one.

Cafe- breakfast was excellent; great service, omelet was tasty. A bit pricey, but not that much more than, say a Dennys...and they've got to make a living.

Got ice and firewood for camping elsewhere. I was successful and had no complaints. I was treated as a tourist which is fair and I appreciate the generosity offered to strangers.

After a long hike, we stopped by the resort for a cold beverage. We found the grocery store fully stocked with just about everything for your camping/hiking needs. Then, we poked our heads into the bar. The atmosphere was down home and welcoming. We struck up conversations with other patrons and with Justine, who runs the place. We ended up eating dinner right at the bar!The food was delicious and served quickly. The beer was cool and refreshing. All in all, a very unexpected and fun place to stop at!
