Found La Playa thanks to their amazing Yelp reviews. We visited on 10/8 which unfortunately was their last day in business at this location.Like my fellow Yelp family commented- service was super friendly and helpful and the restaurant clean. We arrived about 1130 and there was already a line out the door.In all:5/ 5 Hot chicken sandwich- the biscuit was perfection! Crisp on the outside yet warm and delicate on the inside. The chicken breast was seasoned perfectly and delicious!5/5 Shrimp and Grits- my husband couldn't stop talking about this and claims it could be the best shrimp and grits he has ever had. Grits had a nice spicy kick- with just enough heat to impart flavor and not kill you. 5/5 Cafe de olla- I had this served hot. Excellent cinnamon flavor.Everything was fantastic and we left wishing we could come back again. La Playa- you exceeded pur expectstions. Hope to see you again and good luck.

Was there on September 7th visiting family from Oxnard coming from Menifee California stopped in and had a biscuit sandwich and a beer the girls at the register were very helpful and professional was a relaxed atmosphere and environment reminded me of Hawaii. The food was great and the service was prompt and courteous would recommend to other people visiting. Will go again when in areaVegetarian options: Vegetarian biscuit sandwich was great

The Seabird Chicken Sandwich did not disappoint! Smokey, creamy, crispy, complex and delicious ?. Quite spicy but without overpowering the other flavors. Had the elderberry hibiscus Arnold Palmer with it and it was bomb. The lemonade added just the right tang and touch sweetness.I'll be back tomorrow for the shrimp and grits!

Have visited Port Hueneme area for years and can tell this cafe is going to be a new hit spot for many locals.Amazing breakfast and lunch, latin/ soul/ California cuisine. Great service and clean atmosphere.
What a local gem! This is a must try when in the area - Ventura, Oxnard, Port Hueneme. This is a family owned restaurant, and they care about the quality of their food. I had the Seabird sandwhich, mushroom taco, and a horchata matcha drink.- The Seabird is super yummy and comes in a huge portion. It has a spicy kick so order an iced coffee to pair with your chicken sandwich.- The mushroom taco is vegetarian friendly and the fried oyster mushroom tastes amazing. It comes with a green chile sauce.They have seasonal items as well. I am definitely returning the next time I'm in the 805 area.

La Playa Soul kitchen is tucked away in a cute shopping center. There was plenty of parking on a Sunday morning. We ordered the shrimp & grits, the chicken biscuit with hot honey and the breakfast B. The biscuits definitely stole the show as they was flaky and warm. As for the shrimp & grits, the shrimp was fresh + juicy but I wasn't the biggest fan of the grits. Other people seem to love them but I couldn't get behind the texture. We also ordered the horchata latte. It was good but not amazing, I didn't really notice the horchata flavor. As for dining in, the tables could of been wiped down better, they had a lot of stickiness. The hot honey sandwich was probably the culprit since although delicious, it made my hands extremely sticky. I was happy to have wet wipes in my car! Look forward to coming back and trying other items.
