The best place in Porter Ranch to enjoy great food, watch the games with friends and overall quality time. I highly recommend this place for everyone
My son and grandson were generally happy with their meals, though we all agreed that the cornbread had a strange, unpleasant taste and we won't order it again. I had the BBQ Beef salad and it was unsatisfactory. Having had a few before, I've decided that it varies entirely too much with who the chef is on a particular visit. This time, it was almost totally lacking in bleu cheese crumbles. You need to standardize the instructions for your salads, so that we can count on getting what we're expecting.
We eat here on a fairly regular basis... (once a month or so) Last night was a bit of a let down. We enjoy sitting on the patio because it is normally a bit quieter outside then in the restaruant. Had to go inside to find out if we had a server. Manager came out took our drink order... some drinks came others did not. Finished our appetizers then our server took our order. pretty drawn out evening... food was not as good as it usually is... not sure what is going on with this location... but overall a bit disappointing.
It was one of the worst meals I have had there. We went for an early New Year's Eve dinner (5:00 PM). The staff was friendly. The room was nice. The problem was the food was bad. The ribs were cooked, but were not served hot. The brick chicken was more fat then meat. All in all, it was a waste of time and money. Gus's used to be good. I can't say that anymore. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for barbecue. There are better options.
Bryan the server was excellent, patient and very pleasant. The food was a little nit pricy nut they taste great.
First time here. Extensive menu. I chose Fried chicken, brisket and sausage combo with potato salad and beans. Underwhelmed. Fried chicken was a flattened fried patty, brisket was fatty and sausage was flavorless. Beans had a vinegar taste. Potato salad was the best. Sweet tea barely sweet and I had to ask server for a refill. Ordered a hot fudge sundae and had to cancel order because it was taking so long. Overall, disappointed.
I had the ribs and they were meaty and delicious. Everyone in my group enjoyed their meal. Our first time here and will definitely go back.
I am a frequent visitor to Gus’s BBQ. My personal favorites are the BBQ Brick Chicken and the greens.. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. The service is consistently good with fast, friendly and attentive servers. This is a go-to for both business and meeting up with friends.

Excellent, as always. My only quiblle is that the sauce for the Texas Brisket is a little too salty (for my taste).
My son and I met a friend for dinner. She ordered a DAOU Cabernet for $18 which tasted like it had been sitting for weeks. I ordered a Syrah with the smallest pour I've ever seen. The server took about thirty minutes to get those to us. My friend ordered the pulled chicken sandwich which she said was really salty and the bread is the only thing that made it tolerable. I ordered the brick chicken which was ok but ended up finding what looked like a hair in my green beans side. I told the manager and he said that after a further, very detailed inspection, it was only a fiber which we not properly removed. It didn't look like it but I wasn't going to argue about it. He comped my chicken but how embarrassing! Overall, Gus' is not that great from A to Z. The location in south pasadena is pretty good but this location was nothing like it.
Never a bad experience at Gus's our go-to BBQ restaurant. Great range of menu choices, servers always helpful and friendly! We prefer the front patio mostly because it's quieter than the main interior dining area or bar which gets pretty noisy.
Tried the BBQ plate at Gus’s in Porter Ranch and it delivered a solid mix of flavors. The brisket is tender with a nice smoke ring and just enough sauce to keep it juicy. The pulled pork is soft and easy to shred, while the ribs have a good char and a sweet, smoky finish.
The sides are well done too. The potato salad is creamy and flavorful, and the coleslaw adds a fresh crunch to balance the heavier meats. Cold beers served fast, which helps with the overall pace of the meal.
A reliable spot if you’re in the area and want a hearty, well-executed BBQ dinner.

Food was fabulous. Our waiter disappeared a lot but and back to apologize. I think they might have been short staffed. His recommendation of the loaded bbq potato with brisket was amazing.
